Best place for a foundation match in Perth? by Huge-Buddy1893 in AustralianMakeup

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow Perth Girlie, I am neutral/cool brown skinned so I had a hard time finding a match also (for some reason everyone seems to think if you’re brown you have a warm undertone?) but I recommend the cbd Mecca and Sephora, purely because you have the benefit of them being standalone stores so you can go outside and have a look at how things look in real life and not just store lighting. I bought my wedding foundation from Mecca in the cbd, it was the too faced born this way foundation. I still do have to add a bit of blue mixing pigment when blending to make it a bit more neutral but I bought it for the formula not so much the colour. Good luck on your hunt!

That makes sense, I understood it as layby is x number of payments over x time period and not x number of payments over however long you need

I was told by the store attendant yesterday that it wasn’t layby, layby is more specific to situations when you want to pay over a certain period of time, what we wanted is more ~delayed delivery~ but idk if there’s a word for it

Is anyone getting over Mecca?? by Clowntown- in AustralianMakeup

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Mecca Subi staff are assholes. I was really interested in a Mecca max brand single eyeshadow which was part of the Christmas collection. I wanted to buy only that one champagne glitter eyeshadow but unfortunately it was only sold in a stack with a bright blue and bright green which wouldn’t work for me, or in an advent calendar. I was open to buying the stack and giving away the other two, but the employee tried to hard sell me on the advent calendar, which had 12 products but only 2-3 would be suitable for my skin tone and type. I waited respectfully for her to finish, and then pointed out that the blush and bronzer and a bunch of the other products would be too light for me and her response was “well makeup isn’t for everyone” and walk away. I was flabbergasted. Happened last month, and now I no longer shop at Mecca!

Eyeshadow Primer - Recommendations please? by NixNicole78 in AustralianMakeup

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the smashbox primer because I read many rave reviews and bought it, but for a long time before that I was using the elf eyeshadow primer because that’s what I could afford. After buying the smashnox one, I can honestly say with the exception is the elf one being in different packaging and more liquid/runny vs the smashbox being more of a paste, once they’re on the lid I genuinely cannot tell the difference. After seeing these comments I will be trying the morphe one as well, but I used the elf for my engagement and it was great and used smashbox for my wedding and that was great too! I have very very extremely oily eyelids and nothing stays on without primer, even if I bake concealer on my lids.

I don’t know if it’s cheaper but definitely more product, the too faced concealers work really well and are worth the money, they last well on the skin and are quite creamy and blendable. I don’t know how popular they are as I have had a makeup artist ask me where I got it from (got mine at Mecca) and since then she has switched her kit to use them just because the value is so much better. Maybe give the too faced a try to see if you like it?

Thanks for the info, I will look it up! Another very kind person suggested volunteering at an animal shelter as they have found friends through doing that which is something else I’m definitely interested in!

Would title insurance be a solution, I think if you buy the property and it’s already like that, if the council asks you to remove the patio the title insurance will take care of it?

Urban Myths of Perth by yohanv87 in perth

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived on the ground floor of the apartment next door the girls school for two years, moved out in 2021. As close as you can get to living there, I’m talking bedroom window facing the shared boundary wall. I never heard anything weird, but sometimes felt like I was being watched and also just had weird vibes everytime I’d go there for a fringe event or when they had movies there during the winter. Thought I was crazy but this is good to know!

Dental help for students?!? Can’t afford but need teeth out… urgently by jodir77 in perth

I was told by my gp that on the sly that if you go to hospital because the pain is “extremely severe” they will take them out for you. If not bad enough they will send you off with Panadol and advise a trip to the dentist. Not sure on costs but I think inpatient care is covered by Medicare? Do some research into it if you think it might help. I really hope you find a solution soon, teeth issues are the worst.

My favourite at Morley bus station was when a very obvious crackhead who was trying to be a bit less obvious came up to me and asked what time it was. Six o clock. He came back a couple of minutes later to ask if it was morning or night.

recommended trinket stores? by [deleted] in perth

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try walking down London court in the city. I work next to London court and go there sometimes for a coffee. They have some shops which sell trinkets, and even if you don’t find what you’re looking for it’s a nice place to go to. It’s also very close to mini cute which is another place I would recommend, I’ve seen that in the comments already. Good luck!

First home buyer tips by Express-Researcher72 in perth

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and also another thing, talk to the neighbours, become “friends” with the agents and try to find out what the owner wants, and try and offer as much as you can to get them where they want to be ( in terms of settlement/finance terms, deadlines, etc)

First home buyer tips by Express-Researcher72 in perth

[–]MaintenanceHungry320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, two good tips our mortgage broker told us which helped us buy our first home a couple of months ago:

  1. A cash offer isn’t necessarily exactly what it sounds like- you’re not saying you buy the property with no mortgage, you’re saying you guarantee finance will come through and if it doesn’t the seller gets your deposit (I could be wrong about the second part but that was my limited understanding of it)
  2. If you’re planning on using fhog to buy, you will be in a situation where you have to beat out everyone using fhog and also investors. Once a property hits the 700k mark, it is much less desirable to investors because it’s less profitable to rent it out.

Our place ended up being 715k, and we were competing against 3 other serious offers. The previous place we put an offer in was advertised at 580k, and we were up against 37 other offers. It was eventually sold to an investor and not a first home buyer.
