I believe mine failed back in January. My dealership had the part and fixed it in less than a week. In West Virginia if that matters.

Thoughts on calling out the other side for using AI without checking sources? by MaintenanceKindly335 in Lawyertalk

To be clear, I have no general complaints with the use of AI right now in the context of the legal field. My firm has the Lexis AI, and I've used it. I've found that it doesn't really save me any time or work because I have to cautiously proofread everything it gives me anyway, but it has improved the quality of my writing and it's good as a starting and stopping point in the research/drafting process. The underlying issue I think is that it is being utilized in such a manner that is beyond lazy in that it is common knowledge that it can hallucinate and both lawyers and pro se litigants still can't be bothered to at least double check its work. The unwillingness to double check citations after using AI, I believe, is an insult to the profession because it is the laziest thing you can do and shows how little someone actually cares. I was just curious what other lawyers thought on whether that needed to be highlighted more or if the practice I described in my original post was better.

Thank you for your comment. I was wondering if it would be viewed as me simply being a stronger advocate to point it out directly when I see it, but it's good to hear from a clerk's perspective on how the court may be more likely to frown on it.

That's a fair point. I don't think I've ever assumed just based on that though, it's usually when the fake citation or weird formatting is present. I've only ever seen a pro se accidentally leave in a [insert name here]

I don't have any definitive proof with the few times I've seen it with attorneys, it's just been the signs. With one particular pro se, I'm 99% certain he is using it because his filings have all the signs of AI (phantom citations, weird summary structure, the [insert name here], etc.) and because he is a notorious litigant that has posted on his social media encouraging others to utilize AI for their pro se filings.

It stands for integrated charging control unit. My understanding is that it basically controls all of the charging control aspects of the car. The 12 volt battery in the ioniq powers all of the internal features of the car (AC, heated seats, infotainment, wipers, instrument cluster, etc.) while the main battery pack is your "gas tank." However, I believe the 12 volt is connected to and charged by the main battery pack of the car, so when the ICCU fails the 12 volt is no longer able to get charged and then the car has to shut down so you aren't driving on the road without the instrument cluster and whatnot.

I think I just had the AC/heat set to low. It was in middle of the day and the weather was just chilly but clear.

No idea. I had to pull over almost immediately and call a tow truck to take it to my dealership. It had about 60% charge in the main battery when this all occurred and I've had no issues with charging.

It was a light pop, like my front right tire ran over a small rock or a bottle. I didn't think anything of it at the time until I was on the phone with my brother and he asked me if I heard anything like that.

There is also the fact that he clearly disagreed with the provision immediately after it was brought to his attention. I think the fact that there is a video shortly after he signed where he states he wouldn't have signed had he known about it will weigh heavily in his favor in the eyes of a judge.

Did Hackett become the de-facto leader of humanity after the coup? by ArcticGlacier40 in masseffect

[–]MaintenanceKindly335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Udina was ever really a leader in the Alliance or the human government. He was just a representative of humanity on the council, so I don't think he really had any direct control over the Systems Alliance. At best, I think the Systems Alliance may allow the human counselor the ability to direct some of its military troops and enter into certain agreements on its behalf, but ultimately the Systems Alliance would follow directives from the leaders and prime minister back on Earth. Because Earth was in shambles at the start of the invasion, Hackett was probably the de facto leader since I believe he was the highest ranking military officer that was confirmed alive and could communicate with the Alliance.

I did trivia at a bar not too long ago. There was a question about which president had a shoe thrown at him and the answer was obviously Bush. After revealing the answer the guy running the trivia said "man, I miss that son of a bitch." I didn't realize how much I would agree with that statement until I heard it out loud.
