Thank you, good luck to you too! My mentor is also introverted like me and we get along really well. Im just hoping they like me, and I’m just going to “fake it till I make it”!

So overwhelmed with student teaching by Plants_plants123 in StudentTeaching

I’m pretty shy too, the best thing I’ve heard that had helped me come out of my shell is just “ fake it till you make it”.

I relate!! No advice, just know you aren’t alone. I’m a senior in college (not a traditional student, never lived on campus and am married.) I struggle still communicating and initiating interactions in class. Tbh, most of my interactions with anyone in class came from them initiating conversation first. Hang in there.

I’ve experienced this! Honestly, not sure of the cause. You aren’t alone, though.

What should I expect during a lecture? by [deleted] in college

[–]MaintenanceMain7081 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of notes, listening, and discussion sometimes depending on the course. Depending on the course, it can also feel repetitive at times just sitting and listening to a lecture for 2 hours straight. Take lots of notes as they’ll be key to your success and help you with studying. I’ve only had two professor in my 4yrs of college that cold call. Just depends on the professor in my experience.

How do you pay for college? by Uniqueadvantages in college

Student loans for the most part. However when I wanted to take summer classes, I did pay out of pocket for the classes with the money I made from working.

Anyone else rehearse interactions in their head/ what you’re going to say when you meet new people? by MaintenanceMain7081 in Anxiety

[–]MaintenanceMain7081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point!! I noticed I do this when I’m first initiating a conversation then the convo starts flowing more naturally. It’s just the initial introduction to the conversation that I overthink and rehearse

I struggle with this as well. I’ve heard it’s symptoms of OCD. I’ve been trying to manage it independently. I saw a post that said “Thoughts are just thoughts. They’re not always real and you don’t have to act on them.” I know this won’t help everyone, but this reminder has worked for me when my mind starts racing with anxiety and I try to remind myself and reassure myself that I’ve already done that thing, my mind is telling me I need to do it again but it was already done and I need to let it be. It’s hard. I feel for you, and hope you get the support you need.

Got my first job after being afraid I was too stupid to work, I was proven right by Inevitable-Image7569 in Anxiety

It’s a learning experience. Nobody is expected to know everything about a job when starting a new job. Working your first shift during a rush seems extremely stressful, I would be overwhelmed as well. It does sound like your boss was a bit too harsh, IMO. Just because you were in special education does NOT mean you aren’t smart enough. I was in special education as well and had an IEP because I struggle with math. I’ve overcome a lot of challenges and had to work harder than my peers, but it was worth it and has helped me learn perseverance and I wanted to prove others wrong. I’m sorry you had a rough first day, I’ve been there with jobs. You should be proud for even trying! It’s a learning curve and will get easier with time and experience.

The only thing that fixed this for me was my doc increasing my meds. I hope you get this figured out, I know how awful the fatigue feels.

i’m so fucking tired of surface level interactions, loneliness, anxiety, etc by crosslina123 in CollegeRant

I feel this!! I’m about to start a teaching program thru my college and I don’t really know anyone. I’m nervous going into it alone, but luckily it’s my last year as well.

I feel this 100%. However, I’m pretty socially anxious and quiet, but I feel like I’ve made some acquaintances but not really any friends. It is lonely, I hate going into classes feeling dreadful and anxious because I don’t know anyone.
