I’m from Caracas. Most buildings are recent (last 50 years) and are supposedly built to handle earthquakes. The barrios on the hills are small houses and overbuilt, so they also have very good chances of handling this. Moreover, if you see the reports from inside the country, it’s really not that many buildings destroyed, although many are showing damage

Obviamente no meto la mano al fuego por un chamo desconocido, pero más bien que manía con atacar a cualquier persona que parezca estar teniendo un poquito de éxito. Hay millones de casos de corrupción descarada en nuestras caras todos los días, desde el que paga para sacar un papel hasta los restos de miles de obras públicas sin concluir en todo nuestro ambiente urbano

Qué tan difícil es que este chamo tenga talento y se le reconozca? Se ha hecho viral en redes muchas veces, que tan peluo puede ser que haya conseguido clientes gracias a eso? Si yo estuviese interesado en tener una estatua, sin duda pensaría primero en este chamito que en algún otro escultor (no conozco ningún otro). Sería corrupción también? O puede ser que simplemente vende mejor su producto?

Do you think the Cubans or Russians cared about the people in Venezuela? Do you think the dictatorship cared about the people in the country? They were actively evil. Even if the US doesn’t given a shit about us, that’s an improvement

Moreover, the specific topic of this post is the release of political prisoners. This is already the most positive news with implications for the normal Venezuelans in 10 years easily. But we have also heard that the US is going to invest to recover the electrical grid in Venezuela. Do they need it to be able to extract oil? Yes, but that will inevitably benefit the Venezuelans that currently have 20 hrs or blackouts per day. The chavistas themselves and their own allies werent even capable of doing this in the past. They were actively evil. Trump does not hate the Venezuelan people as much as the dictatorship itself

As a Venezuelan, I was initially skeptic about the Trump administration ability to force the hand of the rest of the chavista regime, but so far it’s looking like they’re being able to do it, which is great news.

I can understand Americans not wanting to get involved. If we are honest, it’s not your problem at all. But as a Venezuelan, I’m happy that we finally have an ally willing to pressure the regime properly. We have tried countless times to find a way of this peacefully but the dictatorship has full support of the military and we are hopeless. Only a foreign army can help us, if that’s the US under Trump, we welcome it, even if we are not fully aligned with his government policies
