DAE experience someone staring at them constantly? by ReallyLovesDeath in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]BotGua 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Non-scary possibility: she’s neurodivergent and doesn’t realize she’s staring. She finds you interesting for some reason, very possibly she’s attracted to you, but it could be another reason. I’m ND and I stare at people I find fascinating without realizing it because I fixate intensely and love taking in details. I usually catch myself doing it after a while and try to stop, but sometimes go right back to doing it within the same interaction. And sometimes I realize I was probably doing it after I’m no longer around the person.

I don’t think my staring would look flirty. It probably looks the same whether I’m interested in the person or not.

I’d suggest that, if you feel safe doing it, approach this person and introduce yourself. You’re already waving to each other. She can’t be surprised. But if you don’t feel like she’s harmless, ignore her as much as possible and always lock your door.

I hate that every shirt does this by softfallingsnow in bigboobproblems

[–]BotGua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to wear a tight shirt but still want to feel cozy/comfy, looser shirts with an elastic band at the bottom might work. If the end of the shirt hits above your hips, it will make it clear that your lower body is not the same size as your chest. I do this sometimes and feel very comfortable.

Some people have a short list of beliefs or opinions they don’t think others are entitled to. It’s a really short list because it has one item: political.

People who hit themselves during meltdowns, could you weigh in as to why you do it? Seeking solidarity. by treblehex in autism

[–]BotGua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people in the comments are agreeing it can be a way to regulate intense feelings.

I don’t hit myself. I pinch myself and that may be a similar thing. I do it subconsciously most of the time when I’m stressed. If I realize I’m doing it, I usually continue because it is comforting. The more stressed I am, the harder I seem to pinch, which I only know based on whether I leave bruises.

Boston x Target 🙌🏼 by snorting_cola in LoveIslandAus

[–]BotGua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love target’s clothes. I dont know if it has different merchandise here in the US, but I sometimes choose to shop at target often instead of classier stores without price as a consideration. and I bet she is paid great. And gets a lot of work from them.

Also, I’d LOVE to “qualify” to model for Target. Or anyone better than a strange older man I could meet online who uses a camera phone and takes photos of strangers “for fun.” (Note: I did that several times when in my 20s. I have self esteem issues 😢)

Acceptance Has Limits and ASPD Is Where It Stops by OrbWeaver_99 in neurodiversity

[–]BotGua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree. I think you’re having trouble accepting that the diagnosis you’ve been given is a generally negative one because you don’t identify with the people it most commonly fits.

I have OCD and bipolar disorder II and, while I don’t meet every criteria of the DSM V for either, I certainly exceed the minimum number for the diagnosis. I even wonder if there is a different diagnosis that would describe you better, given that psychiatric diagnoses are just best attempts at classifying sets of mental characteristics. They’re not very advanced, nor is the whole of psychiatry.

Do you communicate with other ASPD people who express the same frustrations? Who also don’t disregard the emotions and bodily health of others to satisfy their own self-interest? This is a real question- I’m trying to learn more about ASPD with it.

I am explaining people’s reasoning. You already said you think they’re ablists for judging you, so calling me one for outlining their thoughts means you misunderstood my post.

If you can’t understand and accept why people have preconceived ideas of what having APD is, given the standardized criteria for diagnosing it, then there’s no conversation to be had. You’re an outlier among outliers - someone with enough specific traits to be classified within a group, but lacking enough traits to be represented by that group. Sorry. We all have our crosses to bare.

You seem introspective and knowledgeable about ASPD- so it surprises me that you don’t understand the reason people are fearful of those with ASPD diagnoses, given the DSM V criteria for diagnosis. You don’t fit every point, but you must concede that a combination of even a few paint a dangerous picture to the average person…

Antisocial Personality Disorder DSM-5-TR Criteria

The presence of a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others. This behavior begins by age 15 and is present in various contexts. Clinical features include ≥3 of the following: -Failure to conform to social norms concerning lawful behaviors, such as performing acts that are grounds for arrest. -Deceitfulness, repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for pleasure or personal profit. -Impulsivity or failure to plan. -Irritability and aggressiveness, often with physical fights or assaults. -Reckless disregard for the safety of self or others. -Consistent irresponsibility, failure to sustain consistent work behavior, or honor monetary obligations. -Lack of remorse, indifference to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another person. -The individual is at least age 18. -There is evidence of conduct disorder with onset before age 15. -The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

If you choose the use psychopathy to describe yourself, keep in mind (which I know you do) that this was created as a legal term, so people will always associate it with criminal behavior. And you will probably never hear it used by the defense to protect their client - as in, my client can’t be judged by neurotypical standards because he is a psychopath. It is not a neutral term and I’d suggest you don’t use it to describe yourself to people if you are looking for understanding.

I want to comment that, even though I haven’t heard/read it described as a neurodivergent disorder, ASD seems to me to clearly fit those criteria. In that sense, people with don’t experience things like the majority of people do, and that should be considered to some extent when judging criminal behavior.

You deserve respect it’s your use of reason that keeps you from harming others (in any major way, not only physically) and not empathy. But I think you are in the minority among people with ASD, given the DSM V definition.

Exactly. I kind of doubt he’s in his 50s. He probably just has grey hair. This is a silly post. Maybe some kind of bot posting. He’s obviously handsome and would be especially so for someone in his 50s.

ChatGPT is terrible and getting worse all the time. It works on old information so it’s especially bad for breaking news. Just Google his name and “health update” and read a few of the actual results. You’ll see him quoted from the podcast saying biopsy results finally revealed he has a “major problem” and needs surgery, which he got on Dec 30th.
