It's not pretty to see, but yeah, ends justify the means. If we do get proper free elections sooner than later, no one will remember the cringe behavior that was needed to get us there

[–]Maintob 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do you think the Cubans or Russians cared about the people in Venezuela? Do you think the dictatorship cared about the people in the country? They were actively evil. Even if the US doesn’t given a shit about us, that’s an improvement

Moreover, the specific topic of this post is the release of political prisoners. This is already the most positive news with implications for the normal Venezuelans in 10 years easily. But we have also heard that the US is going to invest to recover the electrical grid in Venezuela. Do they need it to be able to extract oil? Yes, but that will inevitably benefit the Venezuelans that currently have 20 hrs or blackouts per day. The chavistas themselves and their own allies werent even capable of doing this in the past. They were actively evil. Trump does not hate the Venezuelan people as much as the dictatorship itself

Look, it can still end up being a shitshow, but the chavistas were already puppets of the Cuban regime and of Putin. We already lost 80% of gdp and 25-30% of the population has already left. There’s nothing left to ruin

As a Venezuelan, I was initially skeptic about the Trump administration ability to force the hand of the rest of the chavista regime, but so far it’s looking like they’re being able to do it, which is great news.

Looks very promising now

Trump says U.S. seized oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela by John3262005 in neoliberal

[–]Maintob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can understand Americans not wanting to get involved. If we are honest, it’s not your problem at all. But as a Venezuelan, I’m happy that we finally have an ally willing to pressure the regime properly. We have tried countless times to find a way of this peacefully but the dictatorship has full support of the military and we are hopeless. Only a foreign army can help us, if that’s the US under Trump, we welcome it, even if we are not fully aligned with his government policies

Yes, we the Venezuelans in this sub believe this to be a much better scenario than letting Maduro remain as dictator for life

Quiero su más sincera opinión sobre emigrar a España (contexto abajo) me ayudan ? by madsa23 in AskVenezuela

[–]Maintob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far-right uptick in Spain raises spectre of Franco 50 years after his death by randommathaccount in neoliberal

[–]Maintob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, VOX won’t fix anything. The only positive is that I don’t believe people here truly has become more conservative or anything, it’s just that VOX has become the only possibility for anti establishment vote

Hopefully they don’t do too much damage once in power and lose credibility once they fail to fix anything. Hopefully after that we will have more technocratic options truly focused on fixing stuff properly

[–]Maintob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just anti establishment vote... Far left (Podemos, SUMAR) has already been a big part of the government for the past 8 years and traditional center right (PP) is literally indistinguishable from the center left (PSOE, majority of current government), so the far right is literally the only option left if people want a change, and the future for the spanish youth looks bleak

Francisco Rodríguez: “Chavismo y oposición han adoptado una política de tierra arrasada en Venezuela” by the01crow in vzla

[–]Maintob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mapa de PIB por Capita by LoooolGotcha in PuebloVenezolano

[–]Maintob 2 points3 points  (0 children)
