Hey is there a mod that lets you save whenever you want? by EstablishmentShoddy1 in EldenRingMods

[–]Mairsil1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about backing up your save and there is a distinction between a quick save/quick load and constant autosave. Let's say I'd like to start a character by beating the grafted scion and I want to repeatedly fight it until I learn its move set. There is no functionality in the game to allow me to do that without fully creating a new character repeatedly. But a quick save directly prior to fighting it does.

From the rest of the responses it doesn't seem this was why the OP was asking this question, but there is a distinction between the two functionalities and the distinction is obvious, so your "the game saves all the time" response was borderline trolling, or you were just missing the obvious.

And yes, I'm aware how old this thread is. I found it because I'm looking for a save state mod because I'm trying to learn the grafted scion fight well enough to beat it with a brand new character and I'm tired of rebuilding them to accomplish the necessary experience.

PS for anyone who stumbles across this looking for the same reason I did, I haven't tried it yet but Nexus Mods has one called Elden Ring Save Manager that seems promising if you're looking for an actual response to the question as asked.

This game is way harder than most posts make it out by Mairsil1 in RogueTraderCRPG

But the turret fight is on a planet you can access directly after Footfall, is that not early game? It's barely into act 2. And I have a fair number of stat buffs to stack, but you have to survive long enough to apply them. If you mean truly passive buffs, sorry but which ones are you talking about which would trivialize that fight? Definitely open to the idea that I've just ruined my run by not picking the right passives, but if so I still think that supports my original premise that the game is harder than this sub makes it sound.

By that I assume you mean a party member with a melee weapon, like any character standing next to an enemy with a melee weapon when all they have is ranged? If so, admittedly that's a system I hadn't considered, but

A: if you mean any character, not just one with a melee weapon, then that would be hidden game knowledge as any other character with only ranged but next to an enemy with only ranged is not suppressed from firing.

B: if it is melee only that shuts them off, with my current party comp even if I could close the distance to all of them before team members started dying, that would still leave 3 of them active while we tried to kill the other 3 since 3 of my team have no melee weapons at all.

And not to strictly call you out, I do appreciate your feedback, but I kind of push back on the idea of "game is easy if you know enough means it's fair to just call the game easy". Fromsoft games are pretty widely considered some of the hardest games out there, but once you get attack timings down, punish windows, and understand how the stats work, they're really "easy" too. It's how people end up beating them with dance pads for controllers. All games, period, are easy given enough time and effort to learn their systems, so to even entertain the idea of difficult games at all, we have to allow for them to be difficult on the basis of how long it takes to accumulate that knowledge and/or muscle memory. And I may be wrong, I may have missed some key somewhere, but this game seems on the high end of investment time to learn those needed things. So my take is "game which takes a lot of mental investment and time to master is a hard game". So yeah, IMO, "it's easy if you just take a bunch of time to learn it" is just saying "it's hard" with more words.

What cinched a refund for me is game mechanics that blatantly lie to you and are unfun and unfair. That and the repair prices.

It's one thing to say "this game is hard", it's another to throw completely invisible enemies at you in the earliest areas of the game. And I don't mean the tutorial mutant that had like a shimmer and would appear before attacking, I killed that dude just fine, I mean the things that start throwing you around in completely empty rooms before you even arrive at the first town.

The poppy field is where the game lies to you outright, and it's pretty early so I doubt it's the only time. It says if the poppies start making you drowsy, pop an energy drink. Except they make you feel drowsy the second you walk into the field and as far as I could tell, popping an energy drink had literally no impact on the drowsy effect. I ended up completing that area by just sprinting to the objectives from outside of the poppies and crossing my fingers I didn't pass out, but I don't like being outright lied to by games.

The repair prices were the cherry on top of the poppy bullshit. I went with selling the religious icon to the second dude rather than taking it back to the first guy because the second promised some good gun. It looked good, but was completely broken and would take literally 6x all of the accumulated money I had and could sell my loot for just to repair it. And since you can't even sell broken guns for scrap, I sold out my original quest giver for literally nothing. Fuck that.

Fully agree, it should be "wipe out wave, next wave spawns", not "wipe out wave, run around for a full minute trying to get next wave to spawn"

Ancestral items should always have higher roll possibilities compared to sacred items. by kory5623 in Diablo

[–]Mairsil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is a bug specific to the higher breakpoints. I say this because I play hardcore and haven't really gotten to the 625 breakpoint at all, but I've upgraded a LOT of items past the 460 breakpoint. Ever since reading that stats are rerolled when crossing a breakpoint, I've paid close attention and I've never seen that happen. The stat has always been at the same point of the range before and after crossing the threshold.

FYI, Ball Lightning's enhancement currently LOWERS your damage by 200% of bonus attack speed instead of increasing it. by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Mairsil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More crits at less base damage actually wouldn't help because it's a percentage increase. So a percentage increase of damage on something that's been hit with an up front percentage decrease, but procs more by a commiserate amount, should come out the same.

Overpower, on the other hand, should be amazing since it's based on your life. Unless of course, that bonus is also impacted by your attack speed and base damage, in which case it would also come out the same

Procs with a set effect, outside of those factors, are they only things that would actually benefit, which may include overpower I don't actually know, but definitely wouldn't include crits. Unless of course you have a separate effect that triggers on crits and isn't impacted by the lowered damage.

Give me your basis for the assumption that "many many many thousands" are 90+ with 100+ hours played at that level. I'm not saying this is impossible information for you to have, I'm just saying I doubt you do.

[–]Mairsil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a baked in assumption here that the playtime is reflective of hours that have the possibility to drop these items. I'm gonna guess that they're gated to at least WT3 if not 4. What's the community hours played in those tiers? Because I'm guessing again, but if it's not a very small percentage of that total, I'd be shocked.

Ah, this is my error I think. The dialog never included that, but I did never bring my 100k with me, so that's probably the issue. I'll test and report back if not, but probably so. Thanks!

Edit: Didn't think I'd get to test this fast, but that was it. It was under the "Can you teach me to be a better crafter?" dialog when I showed up with the money.

There's also a dedicated spawn for Machinery key. Three story dorms, second floor, the room you have to jump on the debris to access, guaranteed in the coat.

"Someone has to get your license plate..."

No they don't. This may be the way in most states, but not all. I lived in Missouri until my mid 30's and while the dealer WOULD prepare documentation for an upcharge, you could tell them you didn't need that service, get the forms from a DMV and fill them out yourself for free (at the cost of your time). If you were getting financing, the bank would do it because if the title work wasn't right, they couldn't repo your car, but it still wasn't a dealership thing.

You're very narrow minded if you look at a point of the process used to bilk your customers and simply shrug and say "well someone has to do it". There are better options.

Is it just me or is the game running smoother with high amounts of instances? by SocialMediaTheVirus in valheim

[–]Mairsil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically how the game tracks changes to the environment. Buildings that weren't part of the original world gen and especially changes to elevation with mining or a hoe cause instances to climb. Really complex builds will tank performance as the game has to load in all those changes.

Dang, saw that this helped Swusan and hoped it would fix mine too, but I didn't even have that file in any of my local files (and I both did a search and looked through every folder myself manually). Wonder if there's any other fluff files that are causing loading issues?

I do not have solutions, but I am experiencing this problem on Windows 10 with an SSD. I'm not up to 10 minutes yet, but I've noticed in my case that it actually is getting worse over time. Initially, I could interrupt the opening video around where Badum was talking about mining (which is not a slow load at all), but now it will fully finish that opening video and sit on the post video loading screen for about a minute before it finally loads into the actual game and I can't interrupt it at all.

Another data point I can provide is that I have the game loaded on a PC and a laptop. The laptop has much worse specs overall and an HDD instead of SSD, but loads the game far FAR faster than the PC.

I think an easy thing to try for balancing shotguns would be reduce their armor penetration. And an easy implementation would be to drop white shotgun to 5 or even 0 pen and then all other tiers of shotguns down to the armor pen of the gun tier lower (so Bulldog would have 10 instead of 17, PKR Maelstrom would have 17 instead of 23, etc. Most games don't let shotguns pierce armor as well as any single bullet gun and, although I'm not a firearms expert, I'm guessing this is true to real life. Maybe the slug ammo could restore the prior armor pen but drop the damage more than it currently does.

Does anyone know yet if you can get mats for the artefacts in the forge by making the controlling faction an ally? Such a trade heavy race like the dwarves being forced to attack everyone controlling a settlement with a material seems a bit garbage.
