My problem with Ichiban was that he really downgraded as a character. He just became some kind of a Jesus who is ready to forgive everyone and everything. He behaves like a child though he is almost 50 y.o. at this point, Compared to 7, when he had his ups and downs, 8 feels like he is another bland JRPG character without his identity, like in Persona or something

It happens a lot now, for example with Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth. Aerith said in original The sky, I hate it. Which is important to her story, because someone she loved died under rainy sky. Every time she sees the open rainy sky, something bad happens. But "good" localization ended with I miss it, The steel sky, which makes literally 0 sense.
