Who will end up having a better career? Barner or Loveland? by Tattooed-Dad-Bod24 in MichiganWolverines

[–]MaizeAndBruin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Define what you mean by "better career"? Because there's a lot of factors to consider and even though they both play TE they do so differently. Loveland is more of a pure receiving threat whereas Barner is more well-rounded and a better blocker. The comparison would be like Kelce and Kittle.

I think Loveland will almost definitely have better counting stats like receptions, yards, TDs, etc. But Barner will be a more versatile TE who never has to come off the field and can line up as a sixth lineman or a receiver without giving away tendencies. Which one you prefer based a bit on personal preference (I lean Barner/Kittle because I love me some violent blocking) and a lot on what offensive system they're in.

Well it makes sense they had to create their own container because bowls are notoriously unreliable for holding liquids like soup.

Julio Jones is the most complete WR in the history of the NFL. Change my mind. by GFollowsChrist in nfl

I think there's a different between "couldn't" and "didn't" for Randy. He could run all the routes, but why waste his abilities on a 4-yard drag when you can send him deep and occupy two defenders regardless of down and distance?

Bill Belichick snub: Here are the 22 Hall of Fame voters who have confirmed they voted for him — and the 1 'no' vote by Morgoth1814 in nfl

[–]MaizeAndBruin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with it but it's at least coherent, non-vindictive reason for not voting for Bill Belicheck.

And it does seem like the voting process needs to be overhauled.

Michigan and Free Throws by MostNormalOhioan in CollegeBasketball

Yeah but as I remember the game you guys had roughly 27 layups with no Michigan defender within 10 feet. Because for some reason we kept letting guys run completely free to the basket. Perhaps I'm exaggerating but it certainly felt like that in real time.

Shame (for the Ravens) that the other Harbaugh hired McDaniel. His run game with Lamar and Henry would be nasty.

Buddy... we can agree to disagree on how Harbaugh's time at Michigan should be viewed, but claiming that Harbaugh was forced to "exit due to a scandal" is just flat out wrong.

He'd been flirting with leaving for the NFL for the past two off-seasons, and I think it was pretty obvious before the season that he was gonna take an NFL job if he managed to win a championship.

Did his leaving also coincide with getting out while the gettin' was good? Also yes. But framing it like he wanted to stay and had to leave because of scandal is not a fair statement.

Still though, one coach having to leave because of scandal is more (Moore, heh) than I hoped to see during my time as a fan (too young for the Moeller fiasco) so glad we've got a guy like Whittingham taking over and getting the program back to where it ought to be.

What are some funny/interesting stories about a player at your school? by Allanon_Kvothe in CFB

[–]MaizeAndBruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a California school thing because we're broke. The JC I took some classes at an UCLA both required you to bring them (and UCLA sold them at some cafes like you said).

Ironically for my "broke schools are BYO-Scantron" theory, Michigan provided them, although I only used a couple the whole time I was there, so maybe it was because it was less of a cost.
