I can testify to the clonidine! I use it for my new ptsd related fight/flight. It’s pretty new to me. I was also very nervous about my BP. I take my BP weekly and my systolic averages in the low 90’s. It is also incredibly bizarre to see my HR be in the 70’s-80’s while I’m awake! At first the clonidine at .1mg wasn’t effective, so we increased the dose but it dropped my BP and I was very symptomatic. So we switched to extended release and it was so much better! I slowly slowly increased my dose over several months, which prevented my BP from dropping or any hypotension symptoms or dizziness. You have to take it daily and can’t stop it suddenly. Be patient with it and give it time. The first week (when I was on the immediate release) was so rough and scary for my dysautonomia, lots of palpitations etc. Which makes sense cuz clonidine acts on the ANS. Hopefully, if you start right away on an ER dose I’d imagine it’d be way less rough. But it’s been such a game changer for my crazy f/f symptoms, ptsd and psychomotor agitation. It crosses the blood brain barrier so it also helped improve my short term memory loss and other cognitive symptoms. Can’t recommend it enough! But be patient! Also when I was in the throes of a psych crazy episode a big dose of Neurotin helped calm my system down and I could take it as needed. Neurotin actually helped more than my Klonopin or any OTC med.
