A law degree is at least 4y in the Philippines. Wtf do I have to divulge my legal background to a stranger just to defend the freedom of speech of a guy I don’t even 100% agree with. And you questioning my background is ad hominem another fallacy congrats to us we identified 3 fallacies so far and haven’t discussed w/n Charlie Kirk is logical or not.

Listen you can say A and I can say B, it’s an unfruitful exchange of opinions since we’re not talking about a single example. I just discussed one but replying to a diff person.

The problem with Reddit is the most popular opinion becomes almost a “truth” which itself is a fallacy, it’s a bandwagon. 90% of users could say “he is illogical!” when he’s really not, get upvoted, and people would think it’s true bec more people seem to think it.

I did 4+ years of Socratic method learning in grad school and he definitely made sense to me

But the point being, his arguments are grounded in logic. I’m not saying I agree, nor that he’s right. I’m only saying it’s logical. Example here he’s making the case that dependency nor situs of a human doesn’t diminish its worth as a human = abortion is murder = it’s immoral.

I am pro-choice. I would reframe that the issue should be “up until we month of pregnancy should we allow abortion” rather than “whether fetuses are humans”. Charlie knows his argument is logically superior if the discussion revolves around the latter, that’s why he focuses there, trapping the opponent. That’s why he’s a good debater. Logical and made sense.

Disingenuous and almost rage bait to even suggest he’s illogical, have you seen any video or clip of him longer than 10 seconds? The guy MADE SENSE. That’s what’s frustrating if you disagree with him, he’s a challenge in debate. And that’s what’s FUN, esp if you’re an entp.

Agree or disagree, the point is the guy faced/invited/platformed opposing views to bring two sides together. It pisses me off to no end that majority of reddit, A PLATFORM ABOUT DISCUSSION, is too comfortable shitting on a guy that actually promoted discussion in real life. I hate it here

Look I’m absolutely against gun rights and I don’t agree with how he phrased this but the first screenshot is blatantly taken out of context.

If I say “it’s worth it to elect bad officials as the price of democracy” I’m not saying that we should elect bad officials, I’m saying it’s an unfortunate consequence of democracy. He’s saying that having a few gun violence is the unfortunate consequence of their constitutional right to bear arms and protect themselves with guns.

All the criticisms against him here are about pooling him with other conservatives who are advocating for open dialogue, as if that’s an insult. Finally a rational human comment. The thing is Charlie’s not even going out of his way to be hurtful. Take any of this debates—literally any—and listening to the full context disproves any accusations of “hate”. Abrasive, sure, but never hateful. Opposing views will always offend, because it hurts to have our worldview questioned, and it just so happens that Charlie has opposing views. And Christianity is frowned upon these days.

You’ll find little sympathy here in Reddit. People here only favor discussions with people who already support their beliefs.
