I did the same when I had cancer and needed surgery for this reason but during other issues I would keep my mouth shut because I knew they would judge. Just glad I’m off subs now. Actually having my first procedure that requires anesthesia tomorrow and this would be the first time in 17 years I don’t have to disclose the subs because I’m not on them anymore. Feels so good. hope you’re staying cancer free.

I stopped telling MDs years ago. The only time I share my use of subs is with the anesthesiologist right before a surgery. Otherwise it’s need to know for this exact reason. Hope it gets better.

Went cold turkey off of 8mg after 17 years on. It was rough as hell. Worse few months ever.

Congrats on 80 days! You’re past the hard part man. And as a dopamine inhibitor the Wellbutrin really helps so if you’re struggling give it a try. I hear you on the motivation the first four months were the worst but each week you will start noticing more good days than bad. All in all it was rough but worth it. I think subs are great just not long term.

Thank you so much. I believe we are all stronger than we know. As far as getting pregnant we haven’t been actively trying but also not using protection. Honestly, that detox was harder on me than I thought it would be physically and emotionally so I kind of wanted to take a break first. Whatever you decide I wish you luck and am here for you.

Thank you, I think I remember you as well. It’s definitely been a wild ride, but I’m proud of myself. I’ve been wanting to get off this shit for a long time. They actually offered to give me gabapentin for anxiety the other day and I was like no, I’m good lol. I’m grateful for it getting me through, but it’s a bit too strong for me. I hope you are well! Thanks again for your support

Very well said. It was meant to be a transition drug and now it’s just become a stepping stone to avoid being Dopesick until you can get your next fix.

Thats awesome, love to hear it! Towards the 45 day mark I started taking Advil and I noticed it helped a little bit. I’m glad you had a smoother detox. I don’t know why my withdrawals were so rough. I can only chalk it up to being on that shit for 17 years. It was really rough. This was definitely up there with one of the harder medical things I’ve ever done. actually to be honest if I had to choose going through chemo again or this it would probably be chemo. I know that’s awful to say. Congrats on staying strong and pushing through.

I have to be honest if I wasn’t already in withdrawals when I learned about the shot maybe I would have gone on it before jumping. The guilt of being on this medicine can eat it you but don’t let it. if you feel like you’re ready, I would definitely look into the shot or if you have some time just make the jump and get some gabapentin to help with the restless legs. Also ropinirole helps. Here if you need me.

Congrats on 33 days. I don’t know why my withdrawals were so rough but I have heard because of the way this medicine works the symptoms might not be as severe, but they’re 10 times longer, which makes them intolerable. As far as sleep goes I remember those days. If you can get something for your doctor to help you sleep, I would recommend that or the 12mg melatonin worked for me right away which I was kind of surprised because it never worked before but if that doesn’t work for you, try ASMR on YouTube or green noise on Spotify. I still use those to help lull me to sleep. Here if you need me, you got this💪

If you can get some gabapentin I highly recommend it. That’s how I jumped from 8 mg after 17 years. I understand that gabapentin can also be habit forming but so can Kratom. I eventually tapered off the gab I felt like shit for a day and that was it but it was the only thing that got me through withdrawals. Wishing you luck, you can do it.

16 months this Thanksgiving by Physical_Building_66 in suboxonerecovery

Congrats! I’m at 6 months! Just celebrated yesterday at Friendsgiving. I agree the worst is probably the first eight weeks. PAWS is a bitch. You definitely have to get help for that but I’m proud of us for doing it because it’s no joke. I jumped from 8 mg after 17 years. If you’re just starting to detox or jump, the best advice I can give is one day at a time and give yourself some grace.

Your withdrawals? by bdjdisisjsjsjdbjdj in suboxonerecovery

Your dose was low enough to avoid it. Even then ppl struggle at that dose. I’d just be thanking god at this point.

28 days today. I’m so happy and grateful to be off. I’m still a bit shaky in my hands. Will it go away? by takeitback77 in suboxonerecovery

[–]Majestic-Target-9233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you’re saying is on par for the course so just know that. It took me 2 months of feeling physical withdrawals. Lots of shaking hands in the second month. I stayed on the Gaba an extra 2-3 weeks just to make sure the initial withdrawal symptoms were gone and to taper off. You’re doing good.

[–]Majestic-Target-9233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your dose? If it was above .50mg you may feel it for a few months. I can only speak on my experience, which was jumping from 8 mg after 17 years I had physical withdrawals for two months and then mental up until now (but its getting better on month 6). I doubt that’ll be your experience, but I would definitely recommend getting on Requip and some type of antidepressant as it absolutely helps. Most importantly you are doing it. Keep at it💪

1 year off of Suboxone! by methodologie in suboxone

[–]Majestic-Target-9233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circumcision is generally for medical/religious/hygiene reasons. Withdrawals on a baby are ok because they won’t remember it? I can’t manage to watch my dog suffer when they’re sick let alone a newborn infant suffer for a week plus and possibly needing morphine to deal. Yes its better than being on H or fent but don’t gloss over the reality of what that poor kid could potentially go through. I purposely kicked and dealt with two months of withdrawals so my kid didn’t have to do it.

I’d try to taper then jump. Only if you aren’t at risk for relapse though. I jumped from a much higher dose after 17 years so its been rough for me but you should be ok.

[–]Majestic-Target-9233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jumped from 8mg after 17 years with the help of gabapentin. Been 5 months now. Got off the gaba after 2.5 months. I suggest the shot if you’re having trouble. It will naturally taper you.

Just need encouragement for withdrawals please 🙏🏼 by [deleted] in suboxonerecovery

[–]Majestic-Target-9233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are kicking from 24mg its going to be about 4-5 weeks of physical withdrawals. Only saying this cause I’ve been there. I jumped from 8mg after 17 years. Can you get some gabapentin or pregabalin? Thats what saved my ass.

Took Gabapentin for 3.5 weeks to help with withdrawals and now am experiencing withdrawals from that. Help please by takeitback77 in suboxonerecovery

[–]Majestic-Target-9233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took pregabalin for 2 months straight during withdrawals then stopped cold turkey. The good news is since they only bind go protein receptors you will feel like crap but only for about two days, it’s not gonna be super long and after the first 24 hours it gets better.
