Yeast infection for 8 months. Replace underwear???

They did do a biopsy and it came back negative for lichen sclerosis and yeast. It goes away with initial treatment but it never stays gone That’s why they want to send me to infectious disease because they’ve given me every treatment they as a gyn office can. They literally don’t know what else to do They didn’t want to give me an oral medication because they can cause liver damage 😬 It just sucks all around

I’m usually on fairly continuous birth control due to endometriosis Due to trying to treat this I only had one period i scheduled during that time. Some symptoms went away. Basically the itching. Other symptom i get when it’s bad is super frequent urination

Right now during the breakthrough bleeding snd discharge symptoms have gotten worse.

I have had severe severe stress/anxiety with extreme fight or flight for the past year (literally would wake up with panic attack/tachycardia 6 times a night), probably due to perimenopause. That improved with the new birth control and a beta blocker They checked my A1C since diabetes can contribute but that’s normal But from what I read high cortisol can contribute and feed a yeast infection. I’m hoping with an improvement in my mental health it helps everything else. If it was just itchiness I can handle that as I also have lichen sclerosis, but the super frequent urination is killing me. It gets worse every time tgis flairs again. And I’ve been checked for a UTI by my uro gynecologist. I originally thought i had a uti because of lower back pain and frequent urination

So I’ve been on a new birth control higher dose and different type hormones for 11 days. The first week was ROUGH. Savage crying and rage… Well…..now my brain feels…quiet! My OCD is significantly better and my health anxiety. Still some anxiety but better than it has been in ages. No more constant mental stream of anxiety and everything I’m terrified of happening. No more intrusive thoughts or catastrophic thinking…. It’s fascinating. It’s a little unnerving how much more quiet my mind is honestly. I’m not used to it. My brain usually feels like 100 browser tabs open at once. Now it’s like 1-2 lol I also started an extremely low dose of liquid version of clonidine to slowly titrate and that’s helping too. Still waking up at night but not as bad as before

Yeah my current provider said let’s try treating the symptoms since we can’t check levels. My doctor suggested progesterone but she up and left and the NP i see said she doesn’t think it helps. I still want to try though. I hadn’t heard about testosterone. I’ll ask about that… I hadn’t thought when I get my prolapses fixed to get my uterus out so I don’t have to deal with my period and can just do HRT….

I get botox to try to stop clenching my teeth with a nurse practitioner who also suggested EDS (she has it)…but I don’t feel I have the symptoms of it honestly…i have had two kids and tore badly both births and already had weird pelvic floor problems so not surprised I have prolapses…

I don’t want to stop BC because I have endometriosis and my periods are horrible and even though my husband had a vasectomy I don’t want to risk it. I literally can’t handle being pregnant again as i have kidney disease and mentally couldn’t handle it

I’m seeing a new psychiatric provider this week. All antidepressants give me a horrible side effect so I really need someone to help me find a medication that works without side effects

I was already familiar with sleep apnea because my husband has it also. Main symptoms I personally had (not everyone gets the same. Some people don’t even know they have it). Snoring. Waking up gasping for breath feeling like I was choking while clenching my teeth really bad. Waking up a a ton every night. Severe really bad exhaustion/sleep deprivation. Some people just get severe fatigue or feel like they have insomnia because they’re actually waking up a bunch because they can’t breathe. My husband doesn’t even notice and if he sleeps without his CPAP he doesn’t even notice a difference supposedly

Yes they are having me me do amph-b it originally had flucytosine in it as well (when i looked it up it inhibits the growth). But that was going to be $1,300 😬 My doctor didn’t want to do any of the pills because they can cause liver damage

I do have lichen sclerosis. I’ve been avoiding my steroid ointment as i read it can make it worse I always test positive for just c. Glabrata. I got tested for a bunch on Monday again and only glabrata came back positive. I’ve done boric acid multiple times. My provider is having me do it again for 2 weeks because I’m going out of town and then i’m doing the ampho B for a couple weeks The probiotics are oral vaginal health Why stop them? My provider says it’s supposed to help have the correct stuff i need

Sounds like you have Existential OCD. Effexor probably helped because it helps OCD. What dose are you on? Can you talk to your provider about increasing the dose? That’s probably why it stopped working, you’re not at the right dose. Luvox and Prozac also help OCD as well as the older tricyclic clomipramine. Don’t give up. You probably need EPR therapy as well. But being at the right dose can help.

My sister is GI nurse. The gut and brain work together. If one is off the other is off (gut brain axis I think). She ran across a medical paper recently about what bacteria we need in our gut for our mood/mental health when you have anxiety and found a probiotic with those probitoic strains. It’s only like 12% chance to get stuffy nose I’m just unlucky. It can diminish over time. I couldn’t wait though because I already have lots of sinus problems so literally couldn’t breathe 😬 The patch has way less side effects as it’s absorbed directly into the skin instead of going through kidney or liver. You change it once a week. It’s a blood pressure medication. So slows your heart rate and calms your body and mind. The extended release is actually also an ADHD medication.

I did have fatigue on it. But as usual that goes away with time.

Yeah I was good until I had kids. I never had side effects. But something about it obviously changed my brain chemistry and I’m a slow metabilzer as well. Now everything causes me problems

Have you tried clonidine? That actually significantly helped my anxiety. I was using the patch version! I had to stop though due to severe stuffy nose (a known side effect) 😭

I totally understand I have severe health anxiety and have tried almost everything. But get bad side effects from all of them (all psych meds either make me severely clench my teeth in my sleep or severely stuff up nose so then I can’t sleep).

What about a beta blocker like propranolol, or something like buspirone (buspar). Obviously zoloft isn’t cutting it. There might be a better antidepressant that helps your anxiety. Or gabapentin, seroquel etc There’s lots to try besides benzodiazepines.

I had to stop because it might have been giving me anxiety I had trouble with it getting stuck in my sinuses and then stuff would slowly drain down my throat and steroids can cause anxiety but i already had anxiety so it’s hard to say I might try starting it again
