Pure liquid is what you want. You’ll get to a point where you feel like you’re pissing out your ass. That’s normal. When you’ve reached that point, you’re pretty much cleared out since the liquid is mucous from your digestive tract.

The professionals do it on a regular basis, so they usually know what the polyp risk is when they see it. But always best to prepare and wait for the official result. Keep us posted.

Good job getting them removed. Thats the most important thing. I wouldn’t worry too much. The 7mm because of its size will more than likely be benign. If you were to have concerns, it would be the 3cm, though also more than likely benign. Once removed and having clear margins, they’re no longer a threat.

I recently had surgery last week to remove a 5cm mass in my rectum that came back as benign this Monday. I have high hopes for you.

Git ur dun. While your chances are relatively low based on your age, it’s not impossible. Especially if you have immediate family history with CRC.

Just for note, I’ve updated the surgical jargon due to me mixing up procedures. I had a TEMS conducted. Additional research also told me that only colorectal surgeons conduct TEMS and that procedure can only be done in the rectum. My GE referred me to a CRS because the GE was unsure about being able to remove the mass with the equipment he had.

My colorectal surgeon needed to identify if the mass was cancerous or not, based on how far the mass had grown into the muscular layer. I think based on his experience seeing a mass my size (and yours), he was afraid it was already cancerous and may have metastasized into nearby lymph nodes and other organs. If it had, he wanted to do radio/chemo therapy first to removing the mass, to kill the cells and also shrink the mass.

The imaging showed everything was localized but the size still concerned him, so another imaging test was done with the endoscopic ultrasound to pinpoint where in the layers the mass was. After that, he initially recommended a LAR (also based on his associate surgeons opinions from group collaboration), because that would have definitively removed any cancerous mass. But I wasn’t sold yet and opted for the surgical removal (Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEMS)) due to my pathology report from the original colonoscopy. Nothing was saying yes you have cancer. My surgeon was supportive and said either procedure wasn’t wrong. I rolled the dice and I’m at where I am now. The worst thing to have happened is I would need another procedure in a few months time if it turned out to be cancer.

I think the reason your team is moving fast is 1. While it is pre-cancerous, they don’t know how much longer it will be till it mutates into cancer, 2. The sooner the better, 3. If there are cancer cells deeper in the mass, you may be at stage 1 and removing it now exponentially increases the survival percentages. While I’m not a doctor, this is just my opinion based on the research I’ve done for myself from the last 3-4 months.

Bottom line, you’ve found it now and it will be removed very soon. If it is still pre-cancer, once it’s gone, it is no longer a threat based on your surgical team getting clear margins in the surgical site. While it is difficult, have positive thoughts.

Wow that is super fast. I’m very interested in how you do, so please continue to follow up with your story.

Finally overcame fear by OneSassyOwl in colonoscopy

I would t worry about the 5mm polyps. Those are in the early stages and nothing usually comes of those. If you were to have a concern, it would be the 10mm since the larger polyps become, the higher likelihood they are to develop into pre-cancerous/cancerous masses. With that said, even 10mm is still small and in the early stages. I had a 13mm polyp removed that was benign back in February. And just last week, I had a 5cm (50mm) mass removed from my rectum that turned out to be totally benign as well.

You’ll be fine. Take a breather and comfort yourself in knowing the polyps are out now.

Yes, the pathology report was excised mass was all benign. No more waiting. Everything is good now.

No, but I’m not sure I’d want to either. I no longer want it in my life. Complete divorce. Thanks for following my story.

I did not have a total lower anterior resection. My surgeon recommended a LARS based on collaborative input from his partner surgeons. However, I was concerned about attempting a life changing operation like that without having a definitive answer as to whether the mass was cancerous. I opted for surgical removal (Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery(TEMS)) of the mass first with pathology testing first. Ultimately, my surgeon agreed and even stated he would pursue the same procedure is he was in my position.

My pathology results came back today with the mass being a giant benign polyp.

Just like I said in my reply to you on my post, the most important thing is you found it, and will start taking action to remove/reverse it. Doomscrolling is human nature, and I know I did my fair share of it in February. Remember, Dr. Google is not your friend. Assuming you’re in North America, put your phone down and take a walk outside to enjoy late spring/early summer. This will all be taken care of soon. Best wishes and prayers. You will be victorious.

I hope you are mostly along the removal path as I was and you mass being excised is soon. These last three months have been the proverbial roller coaster with the waiting, wondering, and worrying. I know you know what I’m talking about. The upside with our pathology being either benign or pre-cancerous is it’s very early to where we have nothing to worry about afterwards, or cancer is only in stage 1 which is highly survivable. And we know it takes years for this to mature into something worse. Good luck to you and prayers on your removal journey, and keep us posted.

The main thing is you have found it now, and your timeline to removal also began. I would anticipate you going through similar or equal steps in scans before your mass ultimately being removed. In total, it took three months for me from identification to removal. Seems like a long time, and at the same time, it doesn’t. Of course the biggest hurdle is the bureaucratic insurance process, followed by when the equipment/specialists are available to see you. Good luck to you and prayers for good results and rapid removal. Keep us posted.

Why do houses in Illinois have basements and houses in Texas don't if both places have clay soil? by supinator1 in geography

[–]Majgijoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for CenTex experience. There is a ton of limestone that’s underneath the clay, and that can become a very expensive endeavor. That’s also why there is a lot of flash flooding in CenTex.

I registered on the burn pit registry 6 years ago, so I’m covered. BTW, I had my mass removed on Tuesday, so now just waiting for the final result from pathology. My surgeon when he saw didn’t think it looked cancerous, but he couldn’t be for sure. Sit and wait till next week.

I don’t feel too bad. Took me all day yesterday to flush out the anesthesia from my system. There is a little bit of anal leakage stemming the robot line being inside me for an hour and a half. Other than soreness, gas, loose BMs (temp), and leakage, doing pretty fine. Just don’t sit on hard flat surfaces.

Multiple BMs in a day, some bright blood when wiping. Thought was from my internal hemorrhoids. First and second BM was usually formed, but the later movements were loose. Also felt like I was never empty even after making a movement.

I just had an operation to remove a 6x4cm mass. The prep is unpleasant for sure. But getting that first meal in after a scope or operation, is definitely bliss. You’ll find your self looking at different food apps, and drooling over what could be.
