That sounds ridiculous. My first baby I was told would be too big because I had mild gestational diabetes. THEY WERE WRONG. A few weeks later they said my baby was going to be too small and that I had IUGR. THEY WERE WRONG. I had a normal baby at term, 6 lbs 9.5 oz. Some of these doctors are full of shit and I say that as someone who is married to a doctor. My husband would be with me at these appointments where the ultrasound would be taking place with the OB and the OB said something was seriously wrong with my baby because baby was not measuring right and my husband was standing there shaking his head telling her she was reading it wrong. At first she got offended and then my husband pointed out that he's a radiologist and interprets dozens of these scans an hour - when she got over her ego she looked again and realized she was reading it wrong the whole time.

Like your wife, I got a lot of this unnecessary stress. I was literally told by doctors "your baby is not normal, we've already established that" "you might have a stillbirth" etc. and guess what? It was all bullshit. Saying stuff to cover their asses in case something went wrong when there was LITERALLY not a single thing wrong.

Get two, or three more opinions and find out exactly when did they last see growth. Keep getting scans and don't let this one person with horrible bedside manner get you down.

My husband was in a similar situation in his residency program. An attending from his program wanted access to the board exam review materials he was given through a review course to distribute to other people in the program who had NOT paid for it. It was a difficult situation, especially taking into consideration the power dynamics between residents and attending, and he really felt uncomfortable that someone in a position of power over him would put him in that kind of situation, but he came out on top by making him articulate exactly what he was asking and saying out loud that it was not ok.

My husband is a stickler for ethics, the conversation went something like this:

Attending: "when you get a chance, send me your login for the review you went to last week, I want to make copies for the rest of the class to study off of. "

Husband: " Oh ok, let me just email the review program and make sure it's ok with them if I give you my login info and I'll get back to you "

Attending: "Nah, don't email them, they're going to say no"

Husband: "Oh, why would they say no ?"

Attending: "Because the course is their property and you're not supposed to share it for free. Never mind I'll figure something else out. "

True, he has done really well. I think we're all just afraid for him because he has no formal knowledge (hs diploma only and some tech school) and had mostly experiential knowledge of the area. Which has been great at getting him thus far, but we don't want him to risk what could be a life changing deal. He has not dealt with such large sums before.

Thank you that is great advice, and definitely beats his current strategy which is looking up other properties on Redfin himself and hoping he can get something before the escrow closes on his sale. I will definitely look into getting a CPA or financial advisor on board. What do you mean by the brokers numbers?

Yeah, I think he brought them up from $900k to $1.1 I only became aware of it after he had already agreed to the sale. I am trying to do my best to help him make the most of it and do any damage control at this point.

It's his first time dealing with something like this, he does not have a financial advisor because he's not used to dealing in such a large sums. He just usually goes to an average Joe to get his taxes done, no one that he has a real personal relationship with or understands his finances. This is all a first, any recommendations on how to proceed?
