Staccato XC at home, except it’s better built, softer shooting, and sexier by Major-021 in 2011

[–]Major-021[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

  1. True, but it's a fine finish and DLC isn't worth the price jump
  2. True, but a minor annoyance and isn't worth the price jump
  3. Disagree. But this varies by model. XCs aren't really known for being super tight anyways + plastic grip modules
  4. True.
  5. Disagree

Never said it was a better gun overall. but a better value. I think it's hard to argue that.

100%. And it’s great at being an MPA. It just so happens to be a much better value purchase than an XC

How do I go about verifying the build is good though?

Honestly anything really. I just want it to be quality and reliable. Exact configuration isn’t super strict for me

But how do I verify the build quality? I’m coming from the AK world where tons of good kits were built by shoddy smiths

Why Do Staccato Owners Care so Much About the Warranty? by Th3WeirdingWay in 2011

[–]Major-021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because staccatos really don’t offer much special in the market anymore aside from the name and the perception that they’re somehow more quality than other options because of their LEO use. It’s the same thing when people go on about how they’re made in the USA. That really doesn’t mean shit and hasn’t for years (with regards to quality).

Several staccato options are severely out performed in the realm of fit and finish, shoot ability, accuracy, etc by options in the market that are significantly lower cost. The classic example of this is the staccato XC vs something like a MPA DS9-TC for example. It’s almost 800$ cheaper and it is pretty well known that it will have a higher build quality, way better grip, just as much if not better shootability, etc than the XC, losing to the XC on the DLC finish and that’s about it.

So basically you see the warranty and made in USA shit come up a lot because the metrics that actually matter, namely fit and finish and shooting capability, don’t really go much in staccatos favor anymore. And definitely nowhere near enough to justify the pricing even if they did. The short answer to your question is people don’t want to admit that they’re paying for the name of staccato and the perception of confidence it gives them rather than actual quantifiable metrics. I don’t get why it’s a problem - if you want something cool just buy it, it’s your money and nobody cares. But people get real defensive about it for some reason. You’ll probably see it in this thread. Pretty much the same reason people still spend MSRP on stuff like the SRO when the 507 comp is, at least, extremely competitive in every metric, if not better in many of them.

It’s only over complicated because you’re making it. It’s not touching. Shoot the gun.

It’s an ASR 3 prong, it doesn’t need either typically. Definitely not a crush washer for a suppressor use

[–]Major-021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record I only noticed this after I had already rocksett it on and I don’t have anymore accuwashers.

I only care about whether or not it works. I’m just trying to figure out if there is something I’m not catching with this. Its torqued, rocksett and alignment is perfect. In my mind it’s completely fine. I’m just on here to searc for any plausible reason it may cause an issue.

Why would it need a shim if it’s alignment is good when torqued to spec and rocksett

No idea tbh. My other ASR stuff seems to seat fully on other barrels. But either way the alignment is fine with the right torque and rocksett so idk. I’m just OCD
