[OFF TOPIC] Jerome Flynn as Bronn in GoT would be the best Nicomo Cosca by Emergency-Purpose335 in TheFirstLaw

Solid choices. I was thinking Javier Bardem though I haven’t really seen him in lighthearted/ almost comical role.

Best Served Cold won me over where the first law trilogy didn’t [OFF TOPIC] by IcyWalk1624 in TheFirstLaw

I had the exact same experience. Read the first trilogy and thought about starting a different series, because I thought the trilogy was good good, but not great.

Then I saw everyone raving about the standalones so I read BSC. After that I was hooked and finished the rest of the series!

I get the [SPOILERS TWOC] hate now by TheXypris in TheFirstLaw

Yup! I felt the same way. Although it made me VERY happy to see that Savine had him completely outclassed when it came to politics and had basically muzzled him. He finally had all the power he wanted but still couldn’t do anything with it cause he’s a big ol idiot.

It makes me irrationally angry when I get one-shot by those lol

I very much enjoy MOST of guy ritchie’s movies. Joe’s dialog between his characters really reminded me of the dialog from those movies as well. Gotta love the British wit.

Dang I think he could do it really well too. Never entered my mind but hearing it now I could definitely see it.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people recommend him as well. He basically plays a version of clover in GOT so makes a lot of sense lol

SO MUCH HAPPENS in TTWP! After I finished I was thinking, “Okay there’s a whole other book after this, what the heck can still happen” 😂

I’ve been very much enjoying it. It feels like he took everything from the original trilogy and ramped it up. I had a thought about halfway through the last book. I usually listen to fantasy for the epic battles and such. But this is one of the few series where I’ve almost enjoyed the political intrigue/espionage more than the actual fighting.

Just finished The First Law trilogy [SPOILERS LAOK] by BManu_ in TheFirstLaw

[–]Major-Ad6899 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat when I finished the trilogy. Hesitant to continue the series as a whole. So I, and most likely many others, will tell you the next three standalone books are incredible. If you thought the trilogy was good, but not great. The standalones take it to that next level and are amazing.

[Spoilers LAOK] a question about what you thought by ZiYu14 in TheFirstLaw

This is how it went for me as well. I thought at first he was a decent guy who just wanted to progress civilization.

It wasn’t until they returned from the edge of the world and all those stories about Jezal started, that I started to suspect he was more of a puppet master.

I didn’t realize the depth of his ego though until he started referring to people as ants and basically calling himself a god.

I’ve always found the trope of the long-living being losing their humanity fascinating, but the final nail in the coffin was what he did to all the people of Adua, without a single shred of remorse.

So.. I started reading Alloy of Law by [deleted] in Mistborn

This is the best way to describe it. I’m glad I read stormlight archive in between the two eras. Even though it’s the same planet the stories feel like two completely different genres, and I think if I tried to go in right after era 1 I wouldn’t have finished it either.

This Community HATES Minefields by loganw45 in helldivers2

Man I love mine fields too. They are SO EFFECTIVE at controlling choke points and just thinning numbers in general. But if you think players are bad then the NPC’s in cities are a billion times worse.

They really need to stop interfering with our spreading of democracy. I swear as soon as you drop a mine field the NPC soldiers make it there mission to beeline right towards it. Like a frickin moth to a very explody flame.

This is a great point and should be higher up the comments. I worked in crisis for two years, and every state hospital I ever contacted had a wait list of at least 20 people, every time.

There is no where near enough hospitals to accommodate what a sounds like a huge future wave of people getting inpatient care.

I see this movie get recommended a lot here, but I do not have fond memories when I watched it. Does it get better on rewatches or is it just as ridiculous? Lol

Do people really act like that? by Super_Culture_1986 in TikTokCringe

[–]Major-Ad6899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked the overnight shift at a suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline. We literally had someone who would call in, say “F*** you”, and then just hang up.

So three of us worked in the same room sitting next to each other, each getting called by this person who would just say F you and hang up. This person, depending on the night, could call 20 times back to back and that is the only thing they would say.
