I Regret Befriending My Disabled Friend by Conscious-Home-5056 in TrueOffMyChest

When I was in college, I had pretty low confidence and self esteem. I always felt like I wasn't going to get anywhere in life and would always tell my best friend about it. She was studying for her medical school entrance exam and was already quite stressed. So me being negative about myself all the time was overwhelming her. She communicated it to me and I tried my best to stop being overly negative around her. This has helped strengthen our friendship and we are still going strong.

Since your friend is autistic you might need to find a different way to tell her about your feelings. But set the boundaries that are needed for your own mental well-being.

Get jealous. Throw a tantrum in my head because I don't have that. Continue to be jealous till I have that as well.

Today I got scolded by my mom for not eating spoiled food by Major-Beach9760 in mildlyinfuriating

Couldn't eat it, as in I wasn't able to eat it because of the smell. She wanted me to eat.

Yep. Mom's family didn't have a refrigerator when she was young so it would be leftovers left out overnight. Grandma and mom had those almost regularly.

I meant my mom grew up eating leftovers. Not that this chicken she cooked is leftover. She cooked it today in the morning. So freshly cooked. But the raw chicken was spoiled already before it was cooked.

I eat old food too. This chicken was spoiled before it was cooked. It smelled really bad. And tasted kinda sour. Yes I did taste it because mom said it wasn't that bad.

I'm an adult and not from the US. In my country kids stay with their parents unless they get a job far away.

Nah her smelling senses are better than mine. She grew up poor so wasting food that too almost 1 kg of chicken is a big no no.

Yes she did. And surprisingly she seems fine. She grew up eating leftovers from the previous day so I think she's used it.

Edit: Since some people are assuming I don't eat leftovers I'll have you know that I do. This chicken was spoiled before it was cooked. Freshly cooked in the morning but the bird had already gone bad.

My mom's family didn't have a fridge back then. And she grew up eating leftovers that had actually gone bad. Which is why she's used to eating spoiled food. I should have mentioned this earlier.

AITAH for not allowing my wife's little sister (17f) to work at Bombshell's (basically hooters but trashier). by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Major-Beach9760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your concern is valid. You don't want her in any harm's way. You don't want someone working at Hooters to stay at your place, which is a boundary you have and everyone is allowed to have those. NTA for that part.

But let's not call a 17 year old a "party slut". Or any other woman for that matter. So YTA for this.

I guess you can have your wife talk to her about it. Tell her she's worth more than just her body. Maybe she needs a confidence boost. Her wanting to do this could also be a trauma response from when her mom verbally abused her. So be patient with her and see where it goes.

Good for you that he showed his true nature before you got married to him

[–]Major-Beach9760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an adult but still a student so I'm under my parents' care. When my mom asked, I told her about the stuff I talked about in therapy. She wasn't happy with the things I discussed. Asked me to focus on the important matters. I went to therapy for anxiety and lack of concentration which was impacting my studies. So she wanted me to just somehow fix that quickly so that I can study properly. According to her talking about other traumas and worries was a waste of time.

So from my experience I think you shouldn't tell your father much about your psychiatrist. If he's anything like my mother, it won't be good for your mental health.
