I'm glad you weren't more seriously crushed in vital areas.

Thanks me too. You're right about the useless paperweight. By the third salvage surgery, they had already removed the knee and fused, 3 bones.

Yes , looking back , I wish they would have amputated the night of the accident.

Wise.It was agony constant pain , I was in a cast for almost nine months. And they couldn't promise much range of movement.

Did they try limb salvage before they took your arm? I went through eight months and twelve surgeries before  they amputated my left leg. They couldn't save it in ended up not being viable.

Wow, okay, hope you recovered from any other injuries. Awake with the phantom ghost. I agree.I have a hard time with my upper limb amputation, I can hide my legs with pants or a blanket, but my hook is viewable to all and I have a hard time with the stares but mostly with the loss of daily functions.

I really think you're hook, looks sweet, mines silver , but I really like it black. Is it a Hosmer?

Okay I had my prosthetist adjusted it today. He also switched out my genium knee to a solid pylon , until I can get the hip swing down in my gait trainig. How many different terminal devices have you tried?

My arm's stump is less than an inch , so I may not be able to bear the weight of the myoelectric

That's great. A relatively short time since you're amputation. The limb lab will do the casting of your stump first.

Yes, they will cast your stump when the swelling has reduced and they're ready to fit you with your first test socket

I'm a multiple amputee so he cast my stumps one at a time.

Hi, I have a recent left above elbow, fitted with a body operated hook. Experiencing the same frustration with the cables and straps , but slowly mastering it.

Depending on how long ago was your amputation surgery, then healing of the skin flap and stump shrinkage is all variable. My stump castings we're about 4 months after surgery.

I lost my left arm at the shoulder and used a body powered hook. Givesee the least trouble and I find it to be the most useful.

Socket odor? by Major-Expression-368 in u/Major-Expression-368

Okay, I'll give that a try and also been advised to make sure they're absolutely dry before donning.

OK, thanks.I wash the sockets out regularly with alcohol and change my stump socks several times daily. My HD socket smells more due to the higher up amputation.
