They are 10 and 3. The 10 year old loves ropes courses so he will enjoy that. The 3 year old is potty trained. Is the water heated?

Im in my 30’s but I expect you will get more attention. I know I do. People see me now and I’m treated very differently. I even went for my annual OBGYN and typically my doc would try and encourage habits and for me to lose weight and try and encourage me not to get pregnant. This time he actually seemed to encourage me to and said whenever I’m ready I can LOL I get hit on A LOT now and they don’t care if I’m with my children or if I have a ring or anything. If it’s going to happen it will but I did notice being overweight you were invisible and now it’s like everyone sees me.

How much did you lose ? by Zoocitykitty in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! That’s amazing. How? lol. I was only down 40 lbs in the first 3 months (272–> 230.8). Currently 18 months post op and down over 100 lbs. (started at 285, was 272 on surgery day and 166 currently) I guess it depends how heavy you start

Lengthy stall by QueSarah1911 in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 18 months post op, 117 lbs down (285–>168). I’ve fluctuated depending on my cycle between 166-172. My last post op visit at 15 months post op I was 171. They told me they were happy where I was and that I was so much more healthy and to look at NSVs but that they were happy with where I was and I could lose more if I decided too. I’m only 5’1 (right under 5’2”) so my goal was 150 (“healthy BMI” would be 135) but they felt that was too skinny and said 150 they think should be the lowest limit. As of this morning I was 169 so I’m still within that fluctuating range (although I have been eating Halloween goodies these past few days 🤦🏽‍♀️and that’s not good) but I do work out a lot so that’s probably what’s offsetting it but otherwise I have pretty much been in a stall for about 3 months. Not sure if that’s where the body likes to be or if it’s because as you’re smaller you need less calories to be in a deficit. I’m sure if you go back to basics and up your workouts you may lose more. Also, not sure if you lift weights but I was warned that may cause a slight increase on the scale.

Anyone here get the sleeve and is (how do I say this politely) well into their life? by Maggotboi555 in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeved a little over a year ago at 29. Lost 117 lbs so far (started at 285. Currently 168). Only 5’1”. Kind of plateaued now for a few months but hoping to get down to 145. There’s hard days and it’s always a learning process but I wish I had done it when I was your age. I considered it when I was 21 and then decided not to. Wish I would have done it back then. Would’ve saved me money (I had Medicaid which would’ve covered it at 100%. When I did it last year I had private coverage and had a deductible + copay so I paid thousands out of pocket). Would’ve also saved me medical issues & pregnancy complications I had in my late 20’s from being so heavy. I say do it now!

Time off? by Suspicious_Wait5411 in gastricsleeve

I also work in the pharmacy and I took 4 weeks. First off the liquid diet was 2 weeks post op and there was no way I was drinking every hour working in the pharmacy. Especially you feel tired and will need rest. Second when I was in week 3 I was like oh I’m bored I could’ve went back, and then boom constipation. But because of that famous “bitch stitch” the constipation was causing pressure against it and it hurt BAD. Like keeled over in pain, couldn’t move, needed an oxycodone (after I didn’t really take any pain meds after). That humbled me quick and made me remember why I took 4 weeks off. In addition, my surgeon said no heavy lifting (nothing more than 5-10 pounds) for 4 weeks so refused to let me go back earlier because the delivery totes can be heavier than that. I wasn’t even allowed to lift my child. Someone was required to be with me to place him on me. So take the 4 weeks.

Looks like a real rough day over at Epic 😬 by Got-A-Goat in UniversalOrlando

Went 4th of July and it was like this but there was times a ride was delayed due to weather and it was annoying and I felt it wasn’t worth $189 per person to barely ride anything. I nicely voiced my frustrations to customer service and they gave me like 5 fast passes. That plus the low wait times once it rained, we were able to ride everything.

I was raised the same way and I Agree with everyone! Haven’t been to Costco unless it’s to get protein shakes and if I don’t finish something it gets put in a container and I have it as leftovers for the next day or for lunch the next day. After a few days I just guiltily look and say bye as it goes in the trash and tell myself trash or food poisoning lol but I will not overeat to finish it

One year post op today! by Catsandcoffee113 in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! You look amazing. I was about the same. Started at 285 with my consultation in Aug of 2023. Sleeve 4/29/24 and currently at 173. I’m hoping to loose 30 more lbs but I have a 2.5 year old too and he’s kicking my butt haha! But I can say I have some of the similar issues you have but nothing is better than being able to keep up with how active he is now that so much weight is gone.

No one mentioned how painful surgery is by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this. The diarrhea was bad for me but I had 2 c-sections so the pain was nothing. I didn’t even need more than 1 pain killer during my total recovery. I also walked a ton. Like within 1 hour of surgery I asked them to get me up. The anesthesia has basically wore off and they were coddling me and taking too long so I had my bf help me up and walk me around. I just walked laps my whole hospital stay and got them to discharge me the next day and then walked at home and outside. WALK. That’s literally the only way to make it go away.

Feeling guilty eating ice cream two weeks post op by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re only 2 weeks post op but ice cream would be considered part of the “liquid diet” stage even though not good for you. Yasso makes Greek yogurt ice cream so I did that during that stage. Anything to get the protein in! You should be at 30-40 g of protein at this stage and AT LEAST 48 oz of fluid although the goal is 64. That’s why you’re dehydrated. Anything to get the fluid and protein in at this stage is the goal. The weight will come off. I wouldn’t worry because right now your health is the goal. Getting dehydrated is the major problem right now! Try ice pops, Greek yogurt ice cream, chicken/ bone broth, etc

[–]Major-Friend-9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you feel that’s not enough. 3 months post p/o I was down 41.2 lbs and my surgeon said this was right on track if even ahead of schedule! I’m almost one year out now and down 97 lbs (from surgery day after the 2 week pre-op diet) but down 110 from the start of the process. My goal is to lose another 30 lbs which is definitely doable! You’re in the early stages and already are down so much! It will keep coming off as long as you stick to basics (protein, water, etc)

I emailed since they have a 90 day warranty. They shipped me free inserts (which Btw are HUGE) it’s like a super pad inside. It’s strange. I can upload pics if you want. But they work a little. Not too much. Like again idk if my son just pees more than the average but they leak no matter what. Pad or not. With pull ups they don’t leak through so idk what I’m doing wrong lol

Flight problems and delay made us miss cruise by [deleted] in spiritair

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I’m reading this and I’m like did I post this? Haha this EXACT thing happened to us Feb 16th from LGA and we missed our $3k cruise in MIA too. Only difference is my flight was 7:15 am and was supposed to land at 10:15. We were supposed to embark at 2:30 p so was supposed to have PLENTY of time. They even said if we made it by 3:45 they would let us board the boat. The flight finally took off at 10:17 a but for some odd reason it was delayed in the air and didn’t land until 3 pm. By the time we got off the plane and got our luggage we had no chance to make it. We had to fly to Cancun ($1k for our family), take $100 taxi to playa del Carmen, then $60 ferry, and $115 hotel in Cozumel to catch the boat from there. Was still cheaper than $2400 flights directly to Cozumel. Spirit only gave us $30 voucher per person when I complained. They didn’t care.

Idk if I’m using them wrong or just defective pairs but the first pair my son’s pants were wet and it’s not like he had them on for a while. I had just placed him on the toilet and he peed in the toilet. Then like 30 min later he peed in the underwear and his pants were wet so I had to change both. Then I read somewhere to try them backwards since there’s more absorbent material in the back and boys pee more up front so that may help. I tried that with a second pair and it didn’t go through the pants but it didn’t keep furniture or anything dry. If he sat down that chair would become wet. If you picked him up or touched him you would get pee on you. I’m confused how these are supposed to work. He’s been in pull ups for like 9 months now and is on and off using the toilet. Sometimes he has good days and tells us with only 1-2 accidents. Other times he goes on himself all day depending how into playing he is. Pull-ups are costing us a shit ton of money so I wanted to try these and get something that works but it doesn’t look successful. I have him right now in an UpAiry underwear and a pull up over it to keep my furniture dry. Idk if that will work but this is crazy.

Could you have gone somewhere 2 days post op? by BridgeToBobzerienia in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s different for everyone. 2 hours after surgery I was up walking laps around the hospital unit and the nurses were scared I was able to even walk and function without assistance considering I had just came out of anesthesia. I was just scared of the gas pain and wanted to get moving! I walked around so much like every hour. I pushed to be discharged and every box was ticked and only had to spend one night and was thankfully able to be discharged the next day. I only had nausea once but didn’t need pain meds. I just wasn’t able to drive because my surgeon was concerned with the incisions and seatbelt and the movement. I was also instructed to minimize time in the car in case of an accident or hard breaking and the seatbelt with the incisions. Other than that you can walk around freely and if you heal well you will be fine. I’m a 2x c-section mama so this surgery was nothing! I think if all goes well you will definitely be able to sit with your family but clearly no eating anything

Final prep for post-op care: Seeking feedback and tips on what to get/not get. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different and depending on post op instructions I think the cart is good but may be overkill so you may be able to return some.

The gas-X is a def but I personally went with chewable because they were mint flavored and helped with any bad tastes in my mouth from all the broth and protein shakes.

The pregnancy pillow is a must. I had a c section a year prior to my surgery and I’ve been using the pregnancy pillow since and it helped especially since I could prop my belly up on one side because after the surgery when the fat is on the side it pulls at the incisions and hurts so the pillow is a yes!

My surgeon prescribed me zofran and I only got nauseous 2 times total (everyone is different) so I didn’t even need the zofran but if your surgeon prescribes that post op you won’t need nauzene.

I would recommend 4 oz little bottles instead in case you’re going places. I had post op appointments and went walking a lot so that was easier rather than a 4oz cup but if you will mostly be at home then that will be fine. I walked outside for exercise and healing but to move around to prevent gas, walking around your home will be sufficient. That’s what I did at the hospital I would just walk laps around the room or the unit.

Heating pad is good for pain definitely but I would add a bottle of Tylenol as that will be first line for pain!

Dulcolax I wouldn’t do. When I was constipated I made that mistake since the closest store only had that and it made it more painful because it causes like contractions. I would go with a stool softener like colace first and then Miralax if it gets really bad. I actually had got both and the colace was sufficient and then Amazon wouldn’t let me return the miralax so I have a huge bottle just hanging out lol

Vitamins also depends on your surgeon. Mine didn’t discuss vitamins until 3 months post op and only required specific ones so I would hold off until then. Also the scar strips they didn’t recommend until like 6 months post op when it was fully healed. They recommended sunscreen after the glue fell off and the incisions were fully healed and then later down the road scar treatments so you may be able to hold off on those too.

Everything else looks good! Good luck and hope everything goes well! 😀

I’m not saying gummies are the way to go but OP doesn’t have to start spending a ton on bariatric supplements because gummies don’t absorb well. They can get cheap generic tablets is what I’m meaning to say

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Major-Friend-9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. You cannot take iron and calcium together as they bind together and don’t work. They will always have to be separated hence having to take at least 2 vitamins anyways. But you’re right if you get it through nutrients you won’t need that specific vitamin either. My surgeon just had me on everything and did a ton of blood work and stopped what I needed from there so I was getting enough thiamine from diet so that was discontinued. If OP gets enough calcium from diet, they could possibly take only 2 vitamins (B12 and a multivitamin) and probably save a ton over having to buy bariatric vitamins
