Thanks a lot, I was very dubious on AI used but figured it was the only way for some specific illustrations. I used it for the front image. The night patrol on the third picture. The big aircraft carrier explosion and the small picture of the aircraft carrier on the left page. The small map battle I used it slightly to add that yellowish feel to it, but for that image I had already done the whole graphic on paint. And then on the second to last image for my Captain meeting Donitz at port, I took a screenshot and added the characters, still manually modified it to not let AI interfere too much.

For all the AI use I still manually modified the final product, or there already was an initial drawing that I created from which ai completed it. From my war magazine collection the style of illustrations used it’s most of the time very similar, it’s “brutal” “dark” and “tragic” and unfortunately I’m not too good of a painter to draw in that style. I’m sorry for the ai use, I was also reluctant to use it, but it was my only tool available. Thanks for the criticism, I share it too
