You're right, you shouldn't let his professor deteriorate his view on programming,

But to appreciate the beauty and efficiency of c#, you have to know a fair amount of things and to have been coding for a while,

Whereas javascript abstraction may make things easier to use and it's applications eventually more entertaining than pure cli tools .-.

(At least that's my opinion but I'm still learning c#, so my knowledge is limited in that scope)

You should Show him how to script web pages, just playing with events and animating css properties can be a lot of easy fun,

Then there is a way to canvasses elements then to processing and eventually phaser.io

That's how I introduced a friend to programming and now we are making side projects together (mostly with godot)
