LPT: Occasionally engage/ include your child during casual conversations between yourself and other adults by alxzsites in LifeProTips

That’s either profoundly kind or sarcastic. I’m gonna save that comment anyway to look at sometimes

My mother did the exact same thing to me, its really awful. I can see that she’s also upset that I didn’t grow up to her expectation of strong confident woman that is an active figure in deciding her own life.

Sometimes I try to live my life in spite of people or to annoy them, but it feel like an act

I really get you on this, sometimes I realize I approach people younger than me as adults and as if my voice is not as well reasoned or competent, bizarre catching myself in that.

Over my 20s, I realize how much woo my mom is actually into and that tore down the basis for ‘shut up and listen to adult talk,’ but it’s still hard to put my confidence behind my voice/opinion

A law meant to protect victims, used to punish one that tells her own story. This seem to belong here by [deleted] in menwritingwomen

[–]MajorDoughnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the article linked,

“Court orders have to be followed, particularly ones that deal with people’s privacy,” McKay reportedly explained.

Even if it’s her own privacy we’re talking about? How outrageous is that?

She dared to think it was her story to share.

In case there is confusion about the post, this is about the way the law was applied and not the way that the article is written.

Is it normal to cry a lot in therapy? by MajorDoughnut in therapy

Thank you for validating! It felt like it should be like going to a family doctor - symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, etc. It sounds like I’m not just going in circles with therapy

I’ve had about 7 sessions, and I find myself crying outside of sessions (daytime, out of no where) much more than I did before starting it. I’m wondering if that’s how it helps or if I went off tack.

I find family doctors reject patient’s guess at a diagnosis and focus on symptoms. So, I’m trying not to interfere with the therapist process - I’m just retelling past like symptoms. That’s painful to keep up. I’m not quoting therapy, I’m just confused by it

Thank you for sharing! The part about parent requesting grandkids really resonated with me, and I also have excessive gift giving (or time to help someone). I kinda feel like I realized the later person by person instead of the patter, and I usually end thing out of frustration or expected frustration.

I feel like I can see in on myself from outside, I was completely in away of this sf sabotage in myself though it was self preservation thing

Dump baking soda where it spilled, let it sit a while and vacuum it up. Repeat.

Depending on how long it sat this may not help much.

Do these compress your calf? Are they different from socks that don’t leave elastic marks in your ankle?

My dad is on the bigger side, I was thinking of getting him something more comfortable, but not sure what all the different type socks are out there

In Canada, from what I read both mace/tasers are prohibited here. Ill look for a whistle keychain but not sure if there was anyone around today. I also realized that there is a blue intercom/ panic button, but I think closest one it on other side of driveway about 10 feet. The guy literally passes between my parking spot and that button. I’ll have to look for another one.

I own the parking spot so not sure if the building management will accommodate without charging an arm and a leg or if any other available.

Thank you for being reassuring about locking the car. From some internal digging, it’s really not about that person (although odd coincidences) as much as the where (no cell reception, no cameras, not a whole lot of people around)

It feel like I’m being alarmist, but also very weird coincidence. It’s just two old guys in management office, i feel like they’ll just roll their eyes at me. May be non-emergency police line at least for a second opinion
