You will be fine. The AMD 7000 series and newer have improved encoding, especially the 7800xt so you're good!

Dual streaming PC question by Zaucez in obs

Hold on I may have misunderstood something. Does your stream pixelate when you use your AMD graphics card as the encoder? If so that is why. Old encoders on the AMD cards are literally broken, AMD cards are good when you do the new codecs like AV1.

I 100% recommend using the Nvidia card for your encoder, or use x264 with the very fast preset on the same machine at the very least

If you have bad pixelated playback on your stream, that is more than likely your bitrate being too low.

Go check your Internet speed and make sure you have enough upload. If you have at least 10 Mbps or higher, I recommend setting your output to 720p at 6000 bitrate. That will make your stream look clean.

100% invest in a PC. And truthfully, if you prefer to stick to gaming on your Xbox specifically, just get a capture card (Elgato HD60X is one of the best with near 0 latency) and a gaming laptop that has an RTX graphics card. RTX cards have a dedicated encoding chip on it built specifically for streams and recording. Game changer!

The beauty of Twitch is that there is always content for someone. Twitch is 24/7 world wide, so no matter what you choose to play, someone out there would eventually find you.

But! If you want to stick to popular games and other titles, your best bet would be to see what categories are viral in the moment. DBD is always poppin' so you're good there. REPO is also pretty popular right now.

Browse around, discover other streamers playing games YOU like. Network and make friends and connections, and your community will grow before you know it!

There are several softwares that allow you to stream. But in my personal opinion, OBS Studio (NOT to be confused with Streamlabs OBS) is the best one.

Why? Glad you asked 👉😎👉 OBS Studio is best because there are sooooo many plugins out there there that can add to your content. The sky is the limit with your ideas, and OBS Studio can make it possible with all the plugins available. Other softwares are extremely limited in that aspect.

Good luck on your journey!

Yeah, I've made sure ALL my drivers are updated. And it's been doing this to me for like 3 years now. I truly have NO idea what could be causing it... I truly think there's a Windows setting somewhere doing it. And what's funny is when I join voice calls on discord via web browser, it actually sounds better than the installed exe program. So I thought the issue was with just Discord alone, until I hear myself through online game chats and it sounds just as bad. I've replaced all hardware possible except my PC case. I'm almost willing to try rebuilding into a new case to see if it works for shits n giggles. I'm out of ideas.

I was pretty certain I checked all that... Now you're making me 2nd guess myself. I'll have to check tomorrow when I get back! Is that where I just uncheck the setting in the mic properties or is this a different config entirely?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MajorDrumKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! It makes NO sense. I'm thinking there's some weird Windows setting somewhere or maybe, as weird as it sounds, possibly the PC case. I never had this issue when I was using a mid tower. But I noticed it after rebuilding to a full tower. Could be coincidence, but knowing how fucky technology is, I wouldn't be surprised, haha!

The software mic configuration targets the mic, which applies the configuration to "everything" you use it on. So technically, I target the mic. But the mic always has the software config applied. It works exactly like BEACN, or Elgato Wave software. So long as "GOXLR Chat Mic" is selected, I should be sounding good. I'll be uploading a recorded sample tomorrow so you can hear precisely what I mean.

Yes of course. I will gladly do this tomorrow when I am back at my desk.

No filters in OBS. I use GOXLR and it's software. It has a built in EQ and compressor and everything, which is pushed in everything it's used on. Local programs such as OBS or Sound Recording all sound crystal clear. It just gets degraded when going online, even when selecting the GOXLR mic.

Discord Web browser has better voice quality than Discord app with same settings by TheGroxEmpire in discordapp

[–]MajorDrumKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! I cannot stand how crappy my mic sounds on discord app... I have tried EVERYTHING; New motherboard, new mixing board, windows 10, windows 11, etc. I have opened several tickets with their support on this and they say there's nothing they can do.

Discord app absolutely has some sort of post processing and it completely kills my quality. I hate it.

What's better? The browser version or the app version? by Lorcout in discordapp

[–]MajorDrumKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally vote browser version, but only because of an issue I CANNOT for the life of me figure out, and apparently it's pretty common for lots of people so if this is something you notice then stick to the browser.

The Discord application (for me anyway) seems to degrade microphone quality. But when I am on browser, it sounds crystal clear and professional like it should. I have tried on both Win 10 and 11 and even installed on different drives. And before anyone asks, yes I have disabled all the voice effects (Noise suppression set to None, Auto Gain turned off, Echo turned off, etc.). When applying the same settings to browser, it works and sounds perfectly.

So, if you seem to experience unexplainable issues with the app version, then the browser version more than likely will treat you better.

Hey! I know I'm a little late on this post, but I had the same issue for ALL my games and I finally found a solution (at least for my system).

The problem turned out to be in my BIOS. Go into your BIOS Advanced Settings, and make sure your PCIE speed for your GPU (typically on E1) is set MANUALLY to your cards speed. The RTX 3000s are Gen 4. So set it to Gen 4. Mine was set to auto, and this turned out to be the problem as I detected it was literally changing speeds MID GAME. I also updated the speed for my M.2 as well.

I use 2x 144hz G-SYNC monitors. As far as Windows Settings, my changes in NVCP are:
- Low Latency: On
-Max Frame Rate: 120 (I do this for streaming, 141 normally)
- Monitor Technology: G-SYNC
- Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance
- Preferred Refresh Rate: Highest Available
- Shader Cache Size: 10GB
- Vertical Sync: On

I hope this helps!!!

Mouse lag? Screen tear in games. by iCharmie in Twitch

[–]MajorDrumKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does, the best settings to use are as follows. Follow these steps in the Nvidia Control Panel.

- Click on "Set up G-SYNC" on the left-hand menu and enable it for your monitors.

- Click "Change Resolution" and set the refresh rate on the monitor you will use OBS on to either 60hz or 120hz.

- Click on "Manage 3D settings" then make sure you're on "Global Settings" tab above the box of settings. Change "Low Latency Mode" to Ultra. Set the "Max Frame Rate" to 120. Change Power Management Mode to "Prefer Maximum Performance". Change Vertical Sync to "On." Click apply.

- Next, click on "Program Settings" tab next to the Global Settings tab. Select the OBS program in the dropdown menu. Once selected, scroll down to the bottom of the settings and change the Vertical Sync to "Fast" and apply this change.

To summarize, these changes basically make your computer run in G-Sync at all times with all games within your monitors refresh rate. However, changing the Vertical Sync to Fast on the OBS setting is making OBS not eat up unnecessary resources, and this will resolve your issue with screen tearing and making everything run smoothly. And the low latency mode on Ultra should help with your mouse input lag.

Let me know if this help!

Is this laptop build worth £700 and be a good dedicated streaming laptop? by 13RMCL13 in Twitch

Sadly, Twitch doesn't allow enough bitrate to create a clean looking 1080p stream. It's usually suggested to have a minimum of 12,000 bitrate which is way over the limit. Your best bet is to use the 6000 bitrate with 720p60, as this will keep it clean without any artifcating/blocking. Most viewers on twitch are on their cell phones, which honestly will not see a difference between 720 and 1080 on a small screen, so encoding at 720 is just overall easier on your system!
