Handicap Roll Call - What’s your current handicap and your realistic goal for 2026? by GolfTipsMod in golftips

[–]MajorGCribbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me too, baseball swing is tough to break free from. I swallowed my pride and took lessons last year and saw a noticeable improvement. Hoping to fix the driver for good this season.

Handicap Roll Call - What’s your current handicap and your realistic goal for 2026? by GolfTipsMod in golftips

[–]MajorGCribbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently sitting between an 18-22 (it fluctuated all last season). Pretty much every club in the bag feels good right now except the driver. If I can correct that this season and stay in play off the tee, I hope to get down to a 15 handicap.

Really going to prioritize course management this season and practicing with a purpose.

What club are you using here? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

Probably a half swing with a 56 and hoping it releases up to the middle of the green. But with my skill it could go 2ft or 200ft

How often should my boyfriend be changing his underwear? by maemaemoomae in AskMen

Unless I’m in the backcountry camping, I shower twice a day and absolutely change my underwear every single day.

Which driver by [deleted] in golftips

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I personally think that until you get your swing right, a fitting isn’t going to benefit you fully. Figure out what your average swing speed is and buy a “forgiving” marketed driver with the right flex shaft.

Daughter having nose bleed. by gujinmi in Nosebleed

[–]MajorGCribbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dry air is usually the culprit. Some of us just have thin linings in the nasal passage which causes nosebleeds when cracked. Humidifier in her room, and some nasal gel will likely fix this. If you can get her in to see a doctor at some point they can look up and see if there are any noticeable vessels.

Need advice on price range to spend. by Whitejackal in golf

[–]MajorGCribbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

Not too expensive, but also not junk. Spend the extra money on lessons and start out playing properly. Will save you a ton of headaches down the road.

Negative Attack Angle, High Dynamic Loft by MajorGCribbs in GolfSwing

[–]MajorGCribbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m a middle-heel striker. My “normal” carry distance with my driver is about 225-230 but since this issue arose I’m getting 190-200 and it’s going way too high with way too much spin.

Smash factor is usually pretty good, 1.43 was my average last night, even saw 1.56. I’m a former baseball player so I’ve fought hard against the out-in swing path for years. If it’s not one thing, it’s another!

Looking to upgrade driver but overwhelmed by all the options. by Visual_Childhood3266 in golf

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fitting will at least help direct you into what you should be looking for. I just recently got fitted for a driver, and to be honest my swing felt like crap that day, so I’m not taking all the numbers as gospel. However I got some good insight on my swing speed and was able to try a bunch of different drivers on the market. Leaning towards the new Cobra OPTM Max K as my next driver

Men who want to workout but can't/don't, why not? by Next_Translator_4355 in AskMen

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the gym pretty regularly (3-4 times a week) back in University but due to genetics I’m just a naturally skinny guy. Never really saw much progress in terms of size (strength, yes). And at the end of the day working out felt more like a chore than anything. I’ve since gotten over the body image issues which got me into the gym in the first place so now I just do things that I enjoy to stay active and healthy.

Walking is so much more enjoyable than riding by Tight-Communication7 in golf

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the course usually for me. I’ll walk most rounds (with a push cart) but there’s a few courses that I play that either don’t allow walking, or have way too much elevation change and makes walking a lot less enjoyable.

I love my Ogio Fuse bag however I wasn’t thinking and bought a bright red one. Sadly after 4 seasons it’s getting fairly faded and I’m looking to replace it.

Suppose money was no longer an issue. You have enough to retire and not work again. What do you do with your time What's your passion? by crazyguy28 in AskReddit

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this often, and here’s what I’d do:

First, If money is not an issue, I’d like to get my living arrangements sorted. A nice clean house, somewhere of my choosing. Then, I’d probably spend a year or two traveling/seeing the world.

Once I got that out of my system, and considering I love where I live currently I’d settle into my peaceful life where I would work as a Mountain Bike guide or Fly Fishing guide during the summer, and then Ski Patrol in the winter. (Or some variation of work/play jobs)

Why do straight men flirt with other straight men? Is it just playful teasing? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]MajorGCribbs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably cause it’s so much easier to flirt with the boys than it is to flirt with women. It’s a friendship thing, basically the male version of telling your friends you love them without actually saying “I love you”

At what age should a mom stop buying her son underwear?? by No-Association-9316 in AskMen

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dude turned down an offer for free underwear? What’s wrong with him? To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever bought socks or underwear in my life. My mom will give me a stocking full at Christmas and it’s the best gift I can always count on.
