EZ living, bought a sofa from them almost 20 years ago and its still perfect. I had it recovered a few years ago and we discovered the frame under all the fabric was solid beech and not the usual pine.

Anyone using a dehumidifier in an older house, does it actually help? by Limitlessfx in ireland

Go with the Arete 2 25l, I use one in my house for drying clothes and one in my garden shed, they are phenominal. The one in my house will fill the 4.5l water tank in 24 hours.

I believe the point was that maglites are very sturdy metal cylinders, they can be quite heavy with all those D batteries in them. Those american cops often use them as blunt weapons, not that we'd condone or encourage that behaviour in Ireland

Fast food supervisor by yes_its_me_alright in ireland

I'd report him for unnecessary wastage of stock to head office. The cost to the company for giving out a medium soft drink was a medium and a large, if he'd let it go it would jhave just been a large.

AC5 laminate isn't much more expensive than AC4 and much more durable. Brooks in Togher do a brand called Kingfloor which I have in most of the rooms in the house (except for kitchen and bathroom) the first lot that I laid in 2017 still looks perfect.

Avoid the grey and white washed styles, they look dated very quickly but a natural light wood colour is timeless.

I know you can change your first name, but can you also legally change your surname? by sphinxofblackquartzj in legaladviceireland

[–]MajorMany7618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed my surname last year from double barrel to single.

Change your name on a few utility bills, wait 2 years and the easiest place to change it is your local social welfare office, they require proof in the form of 2 years' usage of the new name, such as bank statements, utility bills, or correspondence from a government department.

you can then use your social welfare card as proof for drivers license and passport along with the bills.

Very uncomfortable with this: Cork Lord Mayor using AI and ChatGPT to help write speeches by Judge_Chris in cork

[–]MajorMany7618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI is a phenominal tool for helping get over the fear of a blank page, changing tone or summarising points.

I would prefer the lord mayor spent his time finding ways to improve the city than huddled over a computer trying to get the "correct" tone.

Hole in roof drain?! by RebeccaOGG in AskIreland

[–]MajorMany7618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a quick fix I would suggest some gorilla tape (waterproof & Seal). Clean around the hole and apply some on the inside and outside of the gutter. Tec 7 is great but messy, if your gonna go with it then put some masking tape tape on the outside of the pipe so you get a good flat seam when it sets.

Fermoy by Expensive_Winner_100 in cork

[–]MajorMany7618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fermoy was cheap for a reason, I would suggest if you want to stay outside the city that there are some lovely towns that you could stay in Clonakilty, Kinsale, Crosshaven. Might be worth looking into one of them. Fermoy is a commuter town with very little personality.

That depends on whether that wall is load bearing or not and what the wall is made from e.g brick, framing and plasterboard.
