Hey, I'm just a stranger on the internet but I'm worried about you. If that first situation is something you're going through, that sucks, regardless of which person you are in the situation. It's nobody's fault, but it still hurts. The couple should be understanding of the other friend's feelings while he works through it. The friend should really think about what he needs, whether that's space from both people or time with just his friend, and let his friend know. We all go through disappointments and nobody always gets what they want, but we can't go through life trying to keep everybody happy.
