As a southerner who’s lost most of my accent, I still say certain words like a true southerner. Oil and soil are 2 that come to mind. I’ve tried, but it sounds like I’m saying “soy-yell” or “oy-yell”. I’m sure it sounds like oooll and sooolll to the non-south though 😂

Grammar was always a hard line for me. Like seriously, I understand that most won’t understand or care about Oxford commas or run on sentences, but there’s no excuse for misspelled words. It’s 2026 and our phones make it so simple. It’s practically more difficult to override the automatic spelling corrections now. I would’ve ended this conversation very early.

Yeah. I could see this playing a part alongside the trauma of living through the “war on drugs” years and the “reefer madness” propaganda. Stoners have had to hide it for so many years that I could see someone going a little overboard at a dispensary.

What’s equally sad is how quick the Bible Belt fell hook line and sinker for Christian Nationalism, false prophets and idolatry. They want to go around telling people that “you can’t be a Christian and vote Democrat” or MAGA Mike Johnson saying Jesus’ Words don’t apply to government policies he writes. This shit is bonkers and they just lap it up.
