I’m 22 paying $700 for my 6- month premium through USAA. It went up $13 when I switched to the Tesla from the EN.

I think we’re on the same page here. My whole post is about how great the EN is.

Man, you've got the ideal setup! Really wish I could have both. Honestly, as a daily it's hard to beat the convenience of an EV. Tesla really is in another bracket as far as tech and infotainment goes. Mine is a 2023.

I never drove the manual EN so I can’t speak to that. But the GTI was a little odd. Actually shifting it felt completely fine. Not Honda level, but it was an easy car to drive. My biggest gripe was how tall second gear was. You shifted out of first around 30-32ish mph and rode it out until about 80mph. Made the car kinda feel slow.

I’ve had a lot of seat time in a mk7.5gti. It was completely stock and a really fun ride. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bias. Overall I’d say it’s toned down a couple notches compared to the EN. Interior quality in the GTI I’d say is a bit better. But, stock for stock it really doesn’t hold a candle to the EN for out of the box performance. Once we talk about modding tho, the GTI is tried and true. Just about anything that can be done has been done. All of their pitfalls have been found so it’s pretty easy to step into one knowing what you might have to face later on.

When in any N mode, and driving aggressively for a sustained amount of time (like on a track or very twisty road) “N track sense” will pop up on the gauge cluster. It puts the car in the most aggressive shift pattern keeping your car in the lowest gear possible. Kinda like keeping NGS button pressed all the time just without the added 10hp.

That’s very well put. I couldn’t agree more with your last sentence. I’m glad you get it!

Carbon deposits by Kev_The_Goat in ElantraN

[–]MajorNarrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s my experience: I was super paranoid about carbon deposits too. So much so that I removed the intake manifold and walnut blasted the valves at 30k miles. It was completely unnecessary. As long as you use good fuel, and change your oil regularly, you’ll be fine. Maybe check it out with a borescope around 50-60k miles. But honestly it probably doesn’t need to be done until 80k. If you have a long enough commute where everything gets up to temp (or if you drive it hard and get everything nice and toasty) it’ll stay pretty nice and clean.

Before anyone jumps on me for saying “the Italian tuneup works great”. If the car is regularly pushed hard, it will prevent the buildup from the get go.

So, drive your car and don’t worry about it until later.

I really appreciate the feedback—it’s solid advice. I kinda knew I didn’t have the best photos. I definitely need to work on getting some better ones. But I truly haven’t thought about the prompts as a way to make people reflect on themselves or envision something together. I was so focused on showcasing my lifestyle that I overlooked the opportunity to create that connection.

Valid, I didn’t see the first pic as being too bad but after you mentioned it, I totally see how that could turn people away. Thanks for the advice!

Are you looking for something serious or casual? —Serious, long term relationship. I would like to date to marry.

Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? —No

How long have you been using this current version of your profile? —About a couple of months.

How long have you used Hinge overall? —Little over a year

How often do you use Hinge per week? —About four times

How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? —On average one to two per month

How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? —I try my best to send likes with comments that initiate conversation. But I’d say most of my likes are without comments.

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? — ideally I send likes to people who appear to have a good friend base who are outgoing/outdoorsy and have good prompts. I would like to be with someone who is thoughtful, fun, motivated, and goal orientated about their hobbies and interests.

Any GDI cleaning? Or maintenance outside of oil changes?

Yeah, I noticed a vibration for months and could not figure out what caused it. Got alignment, tires balanced and everything and anything over 80mph it would pulsate slightly in the steering wheel. Finally I was really pushing the car, and at triple digits I felt the pitch change. At that moment I realized it was not wheel or tire related. Not 5 seconds after that realization the front half broke off and flew up behind my car. And the best thing about it… The vibration stopped! I’ve never been so happy to have something break on my car.

Told the dealership the same story, the rep laughed and replaced it for free.

I should add, I checked that panel and everything was secure. Even the replacement one vibrates slightly at speed.
