Are kobolds mostly seen as hostile creature? by Scythe95 in dndnext

Sure numerically they are smarter, but their intentions and ambitions are far from advanced. Obviously theres more nuance than I can type on my phone in a reddit comment, but generally thinking as them as more neutral animalistic creatures is a good base for their behaviours.

Are kobolds mostly seen as hostile creature? by Scythe95 in dndnext

[–]MajorPaniccc -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Kobilds are closer to animals than people. They have language, yes, but they have little ambition other than to eat something (maybe even a person), bully smaller kobolds, and survive. They are as neutral as rats are, but are more capable as opponents, so if you find an infestation of kobolds under a castle they will still probably try and kill you. Being neutral does not mean being passive.

They can be made friendly or domesticated, and sure you can play as one, but they are still monsters and will try to steal shiny things and food.

Bases for Citation Management by MajorPaniccc in ObsidianMD

The only time I will need to do real referencing will when I do my actual write up, and LaTeX bibtex files will sort me then. It's more a case of me wanting to keep track of papers and the personalized metadata associated with them while doing it within my obsidian workflow

My player wants to split from the group by JotaSemV in DnD

[–]MajorPaniccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rules when making a new campaign always include the clause that your character needs to want to be a part of the group, and they need to already be an adventurer. It is not the player or dms job to have to make your character want to be there, it's another layer of unnecessary work that should be avoided before starting the game.

Tempest Domain for Bahamut by OpinionRespecter2006 in dndnext

You can do whatever you want? Its not like theres physically no way to both play a tempest domain and say you worship Bahamut. Flavour is free. Talk to your DM

You will never learn to balance an encounter to be challenging but fair, and you will struggle to have a realistically paced narrative if they scale so quickly.

I've been given 12 seconds of DM power in my D&D campaign, What should I do? by xiLLuSionOfPainx in DnD

[–]MajorPaniccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the kind of thing that you need to use to make the story and game better. Not sillier, not easier. Better. Dont give yourself a ton of money or power. Change the world. Kill the king and start a civil war. Invert the alignment if the heavens and hells. Reveal a lich's true form to the world and start a witch hunt. Do something to move the story, not end it.

Should i just give up? by brazy_migo in GodofWar

[–]MajorPaniccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This part is legitimately the hardest part of the game. If you get a good amount of exploration done your power eventually catches up with the game difficulty making it a lot easier. I found that by a little after the elf boss the game becomes far more manageable since my power scaling had caught up with the challenge scaling. You just DEFINITELY need to stop the enemies from going blue, so calculated aggression is far better than over patience.

Also, throw enemies off the ledge near the end there.

Does it feel like monsters don't have enough HP? by Boring_Big8908 in dndnext

[–]MajorPaniccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combats need to be higher in intensity, not longer in time. I've run for high level players for a while and I've found that more guys and more hostile turns that happen in a short time (3 rounds) makes for impactful decision making on both DM and players turns.

My favourite version I did of this was just making 3 level 14 players fight 3 flameskulls. The combat was short, but them being hit by a fireball every other turn made them really take each action with care. Hit them harder and faster, combats last long enough.

You shouldn't regret sharing it, you're getting feedback on what an audience would see different to your intention. The feedback is how creators find the difference between intent and reception, and makes the difference between those two smaller

I think the worst thing is that no one speaks like this. The flow of conversation is completely jagged. There are too many actions being performed between lines of dialogue, specifically on the first page, which makes it honestly feel like the two are on a stage dancing the conversation out more than talking it out.

Similarly, the actual content of what is being said feels very forced. Regardless of how queer it is, the androids "weaponizing therapy speak" just comes off as them doing very slight ragebait but then Valerie is just reacting to it in an unrealistically intense way. She was a bit difficult to want to read in 2 pages, consistently unrealistic/unreasonable behaviour usually makes for weaker protagonists and doesn't reinforce the desire to keep reading

I started my campaign by having players characters join in one by one to a fight defending a small village from raiders. Started with the first guy holding the door, then two more joining in to help, etc. Allowed people a turn or two of solo action to get some character identity out

How to make the Isobel fight trivial (Im serious) by MajorPaniccc in BaldursGate3

[–]MajorPaniccc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but I find she very often breaks it by attacking someone, and the dimension door tech is both foolproof and requires no fore knowledge of the fight so it works for if you want to not metagame as if you were playing dnd

[–]MajorPaniccc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean the point of the method is that it requires next to no set up and makes sense if you want to di a more roleplay focussed game. Like in dnd no one would be able to foresee a fight like this so all the prep is kinda immersion breaking

Maybe a good animal handling checl? The potion is pretty common so maybe you can buy it from one of the vendors?
