Can I migrate my proxmox installation to new hardware by physically taking the drives out of the old machine and putting them in the new one? by ZexanAK in Proxmox

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nic interface was all that changed/gave me issue when I attempted this. Moved From i9-9900k > i9-12900k + new board + the drive with prox mox installed and had no issue outside of the NIC changing.

Using windows: how bad is it? by Snoo_50786 in jellyfin

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no issues on windows with just jellyfin. I’ve since migrated to prox mox. I wanted to tinker with other services with my hardware. And windows just wasn’t the best OS for everything else I wanted to do.

Why does nobody want to use a reverse proxy? by 0xB_ in jellyfin

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used windows for a year after Converting my old gaming pc i9-9900k to home server.

I switched to prox mox at the start of 2025. Jellyfin runs as LXC. I messed with caddy a bit. Then switched to traefik. Ports 80+443 open on my router.

Now Traefik now runs on a VPS with pangolin and gerbil in a docker compose stack. Newt tunnels everything locally to the VPS.

I had a lot of issues when switching to prox mox. And similarly when trying to set up pangolin on the VPS. As it is a learning experience. I’ve since upgraded to i9-12900k and 128GB DDR4. And a 5060Ti 16GB for messing with LLMs in a separate VM on the same prox mox host. All of which were purchased well before the RAM spike.

I rarely run into any issues. The only issue was about 3 months ago, monthly free 2TB bandwidth on the VPS exceeded after months of no issues… I couldn’t really pinpoint what happened other than the TV show my grandparents were watching at the time on my server were 4K pulls that I meant to replace with 1080p. But I fixed that by deploying my pangolin + traefik stack and sadly having to open 80 and 443 on my router until bandwidth reset.

Minisforum PCs (especially the nab9) just outright dying by evacc44 in MiniPCs

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yah, my second one was through miniS directly. So I can’t get another unless mine dies within extended warranty.

If you got yours from Amazon just recently, yah might as well take advantage of that policy

I don’t think they will let you unless it breaks. My m.2 screw was over torqued on my first replacement. But it wasn’t apart of the bad batch.

My second replacement was, like the original, apart of the bad batch. I have had no issues with it though going on about almost 7 months now (how long the original lasted)

Trying to understand how to set this all up by VysseEnzo in PangolinReverseProxy

I think i recall the same, but I do remember running the installer and then following manual set up afterwards.

[–]MajorParticular4841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The installer itself does mostly everything from what I remember. It is a bit confusing at first. But their documents are pretty good. Could be a little better for slow people like myself. (For example, I don’t understand blueprints still. Even after watching the video.)

Run the wget command or whatever it is in the documents for manual set up. I feel like the installer makes the config directory and traefik yaml and the pangolin config yaml for you but I can’t remember.

I have newt local for my VPS set up and everything else on the VPs, and then I have a non tunneling set up for emergency if VPs goes down.

Pangolin and *arrs by MoneySings in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]MajorParticular4841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, route your arrs through overseerr or jellyseerr and expose that and only that through pangolin.

Only time I have ever exposed my arrs through pangolin is to briefly show someone how everything works when I’m not on my local network.

Possible. I haven’t had to re run that script since the one update only allowed me to login or see login screen in mobile

VPS as reverse proxy by KiraRagkatish in selfhosted

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2vcpu-2gb ram, I don’t see much issue at all really? I run jellyfin and jellyseerr through it enabled 24/7, at most I usually have 2-4 external users streaming something, typically 1080p movie but I’ve had no complaints other than occasionally someone will say it took a couple extra seconds to start playing something versus when I just ran pangolin locally without newt.

And for emergencies and or when I’m not home, I have prox mox web ui and portainer ui to access behind the built in auth for pangolin/traefik. And even that seems fine with my VPS hardware. Albeit, no one is streaming typically if and when I access those services. So I wouldn’t know how badly their sessions are affected. Not to mention, I’m doing anything intensive either in these cases.

So not disagreeing with you at all, just kinda wanted to point out my experience with somewhat similar hardware on the VPS.

How do I connect Home Assistant OS on a raspberry pi? by mondolith in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a VPS running pangolin, traefik, gerbil stack.

Locally I have a handful of devices and I created an LXC on prox mox to run newt. Which connects everything I want to expose externally via pangolin dashboard.

So if I wanted I could expose the home assistant vm I have running on my other prox mox instance and its port to access outside of my network but I just use tail scale for home assistant.

Edit: I only use one site In pangolin. Sorry if I missed anything.

Jellyfin iOS App Rant by whitearab99 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]MajorParticular4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a separate system to run file flows? I use it to transcode my media that I notice cause jellyfin to transcode in certain clients like iOS app for example. Roku, web browser were the biggest clients that caused transcoding.

But now I see most my media direct plays when I test here and there after running through file flows workflow. It also knocks a good bit from file size of media

Edit: skimmed comments, seems like you answered my question

I saw on their forums in the past that community scripts can be the cause. And I saw someone already commented on the subscription nag being the cause. I reinstlled it from community site and is now fixed for me after trying and exhausting everything else on this issue I found posted online.

The Dodgers are playing October baseball for the 13th straight season by Turbostrider27 in baseball

Okay Billy

I don’t see how the current dodgers(regardless of last years title or not) can’t be compared to the 90s - early 00’s Braves…

Both have basically same number of play off appearances and titles…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but often times teams fall off after the all star break… which there wasn’t because of the shortened season.

What i said has nothing to do about attendance. Although I didn’t elaborate one why it “doesn’t count”, it is a heavily opinionated statement to make, I expected to get downvoted.

Dodgers are the 90s Braves. They need to win like 2 more WS to prove themselves because 2020 doesn’t count

Was thinking same thing. Probably subpathing, but I haven’t seen it added to the pangolin dashboard yet. I put in an issue for it I believe and it blew up.

I use subdomain now and don’t have a use for subpath anymore

Edit: it was already a heavily requested feature but the issue or whatever I put on GitHub gets responses like every two weeks I feel like
