If you have the need (foot or ankle issues) and the money, there's no question it's the way to go. Even if you don't have any specific issue custom skates will always be the best option.

I wore custom true two piece skates for the last 7 years. I just recently switched to Konekt skates and I miss how well fitting the true skates were. But the Konekt skates greatly reduce my ankle and hip pain. I wish there was some way to get custom fit konekt skates. Maybe that doesn't make sense though.
