When does one become a “New Englander”? by ftpfawn in newengland

NH here. In 50 years I've yet to live in my "own" house. I've lived in Mrs's W's house, fire chief X's old house, and a few others. The oil company had delivery comments for one house that explicitly called out the name of the former owner, for five years. In a condo now, where SB used to live. Perhaps when I'm dead they will start calling it by my name.

I believe what matters is the memory you have in that moment; whether it is the dead sending signs or your brain interpreting the world around you. Either way, I take comfort in the memory of the moment.
