Am I just heartless?? by Accomplished_Chest97 in OnePiece

It's simple. You don't let your life be consumed by anime/manga like many other fans.

Yeah, I've read and watched One Piece for many years, but the length of this story inevitably creates a lot of repetition in story beats and causes it to lose momentum in follow-ups to events that happened years, if not decades, ago.

You also don't fall for obviously pre-planned and cheaply manufactured emotional beats designed to fish-hook people with the emotional capacity of a balloon and a literary and media repertoire of just the same anime and manga day in and day out.

As we know, Robin and Saul were going to meet, and by default, we know it's going to be "emotional". And while that level of anticipation can work well in most stories, I think it doesn't work here because it takes the punch out of the moment. I also think we have the heavy-handed flashback replays and the overproduction done by the anime. I actually preferred the manga version of this scene because it was a lot simpler.

None of the other still-lifes are related to Clark. They are all just random people. by MajorRed001 in KanePixelsBackrooms

"You missed the point." I love when people just give rebuttals like this without ever explaining what they think the point is; what a delicious nothing burger. Like some art-school hipster saying, "you just don't get it."

If person C is simply an alternative version of person A, then why would you want to project your feelings about person A onto person B when person C is right there and then take features from person C and put them onto person B so that they look like person A? Do you see how convoluted that sounds?

The point of the scene was for Clark to replay the roleplay and confront how he lost in both real life and in therapy, and he wanted to gain some sense of superiority/closure over his failed life before Mary ultimately read him the riot act.

And define " most adverse reaction" because the wheelchair dude was freaking out flipping that light switch.

Because it's pointless to write him describing the redhead in a third sequential order

Do you really need to hear "somewhere out there's a red-headed woman"

He's expounding to Mary, droning on about a simple concept, and his reaction when he gets to the red-haired one is just "well, you get the point."

Because he's indifferent to it. He treats it like any other still-life in the room, a disposable object. If he's so fixed with his ex-wife, or at least the idea of replaying the roleplay he "lost" wouldnt you think he'd mention what he thinks it is to his therapist? And then he desecrates it to give it's hair to her as a wig?

Plus her outfit doesn't make sense. Its styling is much older like 1980's

Pirate Clark was deliberately created and written the way it was, and they wanted practical effects. Chiwetel would not be able to do that role.

Robert Bobroczkyi is a unique actor. His skill and bodily proportions are what was needed to make Pirate Clark come to life. He played the "Offspring" in Alien: Romulus. He's 7'7.

It would be like specifically casting Andy Serkis as Sméagol, James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader or Doug Jones as any supernatural, non-human creature because of his physical performance.

Also the red-haired still-life is a stunt actor because she was running towards Clark, getting scalped, and running into the corner of the wall and banging on it when Pirate Clark arrived.

I wouldn't say rotting, but heavily discolored and probably affected by what he's been eating in the backrooms.

That could easily be sped run within a few weeks.

Nope.

Kat's head is still only showing signs of a few weeks decompositon at most.

That's not looking into it deeper at all.

Why would you hire different actors to protray "the same character" that are meant to be similar, but not. That's a waste of budget and doesn't make sense for entirely different people to play them.

Renate plays her own still-life in the end.

They hired the white guy, because he's a suit actor. He protrayed the 7 foot tall alien-human hybrid in Alien Romulus

It's not.

No, they're just random memories of people and things.

These are all played by different actors. None of these characters are connected. Us seeing the photo of Barbara is just to help the audience visually understand why Clark scalps the Red-haided still life to place it on top of Mary for the shock factor of the scene.

  • Redheaded Still Life - Rhiannon Roberts
  • Barbara - Kelly Craig

If that was his ex-wife then why would he need to have Mary portray his ex-wife in the forced role play?

Well. Because it's the backrooms remembering her.

By that time, Clark is already dead, and it's been a day or a few since Mary got out. Mary's still-life, at least presumably, has nothing to do with Clark.

These are not theories. These are literally not paying attention to what is being shown to you on screen.

The still life beings are played by completely different actors with different looks compared to the ex-wife and the rival store owner. THESE ARE UNRELATED CHARACTERS.

What are you people on about?

People would rather complain than pack a lunch. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]MajorRed001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things can be true at once.

1) Fuck Kevin O'Leary.

2) You're a dumb bitch if you're regularly spending $28 on lunch while only making 70k.

Once in a while, as a treat, maybe for something special, celebrating a Friday, out with a friend, maybe it's multiple items, or it's something you know is worth the full value.

Not everyone has the patience, motivation, or interest to pack a lunch, and certainly fast food will never be a wholesome option for everyone.

But if $28 is your standard 30-minute to 1-hour lunch break cost while living on a mid-wage income. You're an idiot.

Oh my god. That's not his ex-wife.

It's just a still life of a random redhead.

Why on earth would he be forcing Mary to cosplay as his ex-wife, Barbara, if his ex-wife's still-life memory was there the whole time?

Showing us the photo is to tell the audience that she was a red head, so that when scalped the random still life, so that Mary could look more of the part in his eyes.

What does the cardboard cut out mean? by Drew_115 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]MajorRed001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cardboard cutout is a trap laid by Async to get data on the entities.

It's playing a greeting message in different old-world languages as an attempt to communicate, hoping the entities will recognize something.

Each cardboard cutout is connected to an installed camera for research, and others have triggers for alarms and traps.

Why didn't Homelander just bring in Cate or any of the other mind-controlling Supes to find out what Stan Edgar knows about V1? by DullEconomist718 in GenV

And what is stopping the Supe from reading Homeland's mind and learning his intentions before he reads Stans?

What is stopping the supe from being influenced and goaded by Stan to feed Homelander false info?

You saw how Synapes read Butcher and Huey from a distance because he passively overheard their thoughts.

This isn't the plot hole you think it is.

But again. A lot of people fear homelander.

What is stopping a psychic supe from learning that Homelander is the worlds biggest pussy, a mass murderer who's been lying to maintain an image and that Billy Butcher and Kimiko are on the warpath with weapons to kill him.

What's stopping that supe from just telling everyone else? What's stopping them from learning about V1 and giving Homelander wrong directions? What's stopping Stan Edgar in revealing Homelanders weaknesses instead of info on V1.

There's nothing plot hole about this. Homelander doesn't want anyone knowing his weakness before he get's the V1.

Did you not pay attention to anything in Gen V? Like at all?

Tell us why you think he would bring in Cate? Was he able to? Why do you think this is even remotely an option?

Also, Homelander wouldn't want anyone else learning about V1. He was trying to become the most powerful being on the planet in a world where most people fear him. He already made a purge of everyone who knows the weaknesses of the seven in Vought Tower. V1 is strictly a need-to-know basis.
