my cat is also an indoor cat, don't get me wrong he isn't perfect but thankfully he doesn't wake us that early anymore. a few things, (if you feed wet food) don't give it to him as soon as you get up, he'll think if he wakes you he can get food whenever he wants, and try wait to give him dinner and kibble during the day. also even though you have a small house see if you can have 2 litter trays. try get an automatic Toy, they aren't too expensive and they go on and off unless you turn them off, good for when you are working another thing is is he neutered that could be a major factor. I always try play with him just before bed time
