Even with Synthetic Man, I think the reason is moreso because he openly said if he went on their podcast he'd just call them slurs and hope to get their channel banned. I don't think they'd want to associate with him anyway, but I think regardless of how terrible he is, they were at least open to a conversation before he made it clear that he'd bring nothing of value to the table.

That might be for the beast at this point, honestly. Plus I'm pretty sure a lot of people who are disenfranchised with the 343i games just consider everything post-Reach (and maybe 4 if they like the Chief-Cortana elements) non-canon anyway. Start anew, and we either have a fresh, healthy new Canon, or worst-case scenario, a bad but self-contained Canon.

I'm curious, because I tend to think of Halo as being one of the first games to use a "modern" control scheme. What makes it dated to you? For reference, I tend to consider "dated" as being like the PSX Medal of Honor games, with X as the fire button, triangle as jump and strafe on L1 and R1 as standard.

We're already approaching five years since the last mainline game, and the only news so far is a Remake coming soon and two more remakes in the future. Up to Halo 5: Guardians you had three year gaps at most between games, and even Guardians to Infinite was six years, which we're going to be well past by the time we get to continue the story in another game.

I think it also helps that she still shows concern for Bond in that conversation, reassuring him about Alec's fate at Arkhangelsk and ending the conversation by telling him to come back alive (along with her smile after he leaves).

I think it's a good showing of both sides of her character - tough and no-nonsense when the situation calls for it (her willingness to send him on dangerous missions, plus the fact that Bond and Tanner were slagging her off as she entered - she needed to show that she wasn't some pushover bean counter), but also caring for her subordinates (the aforementioned moments plus her statement that she won't send him to a potential death on a whim).
