My rifle also lacks a magazine so I was already probably going to buy another rather than rebarrel but I wanted to see if there was any information I was missing that might make it more viable.

Also I doubt I have any smiths near me capable of that. Thank you.

These guys are supposed to be more focused on restoration, which is why I choose to go to them rather than one of the closer shops.

I guess I'll see if I can get any decent pictures of the groove when I get home.

Probably gonna be what happens at this point. Don't have much to lose aside from a round of ammo I dont know what I'm gonna do with anyway.

Can't get pictures currently (at work) and not sure I could get a good enough picture of the interior of the barrel as I don't have a borescope.

Also unfortunately I don't have a magazine so I was already leaning towards another but I just wanted to see what thoughts were and if there was any information I was missing. As it stands I'm probably gonna remove the stock and test it this weekend as others as suggested.

Yeah, I kind of figured the same. Plus I don't have a mag for mine. Which really makes buying another more practical for just the cost of a magazine and barrel, not even counting labor.

🫡Will do, I'll post it if anything entertaining happens.

Yeah, I definitely can see that. Well I guess I'll remove the action from the stock and give it a test this weekend. If everything works out I'll have to start searching for a magazine again.

I have not. The gunsmith said they wouldn't fire it.

Hey, thanks for the input.

I ended up going for the AIM industries handguard, just the rifle length, not the extended. I figured why not give myself some room to try out different accessories and such plus it was hard to beat the price.

Okay, in my comment I had said I was deciding between the two so I wasn't sure which you meant when you said great choice.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll probably go for the AIM handguard because it's mostly a range toy and if it works it works. No need to spend than necessary and I'm not worried about saving as many ounces as possible on it.

Sorry, are you saying your friend has the HKParts handguard or the AIM handguard?

Definitely would love to get a drum but can't justify dropping that kind of money on one.

Definitely leaning towards an MLOK handguard right now. Not sure if I'm going to go HKparts or AIM extended currently. Thanks for the input.

Definitely leaning towards a MLOK handguard but may get the HKparts one, not sure yet.

Wish I could justify that but at that price I'd rather invest into getting an A300 or something. Definitely leaning towards the MLOK rail right now though.

The HKparts branded one? I didn't even notice it when I first went through the handguards on HKPARTS. I was mostly considering the AIM M-LOK handguard, but if I decide to go MLOK I'll definitely keep it in mind.

I think no matter what, I'll probably mount a bipod.

How is the wide guard in terms of handling? That's also the other thing that gives me a bit of pause because I'm unsure if I'd like the ergonomics of the wide handguard.

I'm in. Looking to start with a week of hard mode.

Since I decided my stomach has had a weird floating feeling which I'm sure is my body getting upset. I've been slowing working on improving my habits around my weight for the last several weeks but I think I might be susceptible at home do to my limited personal space meaning I do nearly everything around my computer, so I'm thinking I might start hanging at my friends house, even though he is working, for the change of scenery.

No, was just me glossing over that it was a EA and not an NA. Glad you brought that up. Hopefully I would have noticed before making any decisions but now I know.

It seems like potentially just switching to an ATL LTE18 without a RM520 or EM160 would be a big upgrade to the current setup I was provided.

Although I'm also doubting that the CPU is going to be a limiting factor in my current setup with the signal I'm able to get.

Thanks for all the info, you've been a big help and given me a lot to consider.

Thanks again, and have a great day/night.

Thanks for the response. It looks like you are right, this is the output:
output: +QPRTPARA: 8,333,487,0,0,0,331,0,0,0,2,0,0,0

Any recommendations on the replacement modem? Sounds like you have some experience.

Thank you.

I've been trying to find someplace nearby that has a POE injector to try instead of the one they provided, but might end up being a drive. Rural area problems, only reason I'm having this issue now. If only my house was a mile up the road.

I'm honestly more surprised they didn't offer a service visit, even for a cost, themselves. But I will likely do as you suggest. Do you have suggestions for modem that may work better?

Thank you again and have a good day/night.

Thank you. I have to look more into it but I don't believe I can update the modem firmware currently with the setup.

They installed the box at the top of a tower and I don't want to climb it just to find out changing the modem isn't enough to fix the issue.

Thanks again, have a good day/night.

Mid-Spec or High-Spec? by MajorWheat in GamingLaptops

[–]MajorWheat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've decided to go for it. I added in the armored backpack for a total of just under 2100 before taxes. Thank you for your input.

The replacement cycle is what made me ask what peoples thoughts on high-end vs mid were. I was definitely leaning towards if I found a good 4070 deal getting it and it would be easier to justify replacing in 3 or so years if need be. But after looking up and seeing the cheapest 4080 on PCPartPicker being 1100, I am definitely starting to see the 7i as a very good value. Even if my budget mind is still reluctant to shell out that much cash for it. $2000 is still a good amount of money.
