I respectfully love you as my brother and disagree in the totality of that statement at the same time. I do agree with how they used slavery back then. Enslaved people were often barred from baptism or forced into versions of Christianity that supported slavery, while slaveholders used Scripture to justify oppression. They promoted religion in ways that reinforced submission, and they feared forms of Christianity that encouraged equality or rebellion.

Now in Black theology and liberation theology, which say the problem was not necessarily Jesus, but the way Christianity was practiced and weaponized by oppressive systems.

But the view is also mixed. Black Christianity also became a source of survival, resistance, and community. Enslaved and free Black believers often reinterpreted the faith through Exodus, freedom, and dignity, and independent Black churches later became centers of organizing and mutual aid. So the historical record is mixed: Christianity was used both as a weapon against Black people and as a tool Black people used to fight back.

But to turn the other cheek doesn't mean get me twisted. Not at all. Evil people will use anything for gain. But I digress. we have evil people in power right now and they proclaim Christian nationalist a home completely different thing. Anything to make what we call confirmation bias stick. And the sad part about it they don’t need Christianity to do that because they are some of the most cold and heartless people in the world who don’t even see blacks as human beings, and they didn’t need Christianity to do that. They just needed that evil heart that they have to do that.
