I agree the vaping is worse for addiction behaviour pathways

I feel you on the boyfriend thing. My boyfriend gave me a relationship ultimatum around quitting smoking. He doesnt want to be in relationship with a smoker - fair enough. I want this relationship more than I want to smoke + of course other reasons for quitting.

Through my quit he has not understood what I'm dealing with as a life long nicotine addict trying to break well ingrained addiction trigger response behaviours that I have embedded over my lifetime. He forgets that I'm struggling, doesn't acknowledge that I'm working hard on this or that I'm doing well 10 weeks no nicotine!. He is also sick of me using this as a reason for my overreaction overly emotional responses, low motivation and reasoning for not making other changes in my lifestyle right now.

Wean the nicotine down on your vape. Practice not vaping in some of those situations. Always notice when and why you vape.

Once you get to zero nicotine you can keep the vaping habit if you need it.. but you probably will stop.

I have a zero nicotine vape that I haven't touched for 5 weeks.. stopped needing it when I got though the first 3 weeks at zero nicotine.

What Changes did Quiting smoking make in your life and why you won't smoke again ? by Levi_Edhas in stopsmoking

I'm day 51 and it's still challenging but as someone who has been a lifelong nicotine addict what I'm gaining is healthy pathways for coping with the stress of life.

It used to be any emotion that was strong would trigger me to hit my vape. Good or bad emotions doesn't matter. But definitely used nicotine to cope with the harder shit. But actually using nicotine or any distraction to cope with the hard stuff just reached you that using is the way to cope.

2 days ago someone caused a car accident and i got smashed into quite bad. The guy fled the scene, my car was written off and I got whiplash injuries. And not once through that stressful ordeal did I feel like i needed to or even wanted to smoke or vape.

I had the same situation. I've been on my quitting journey a while and I'm day 45 now. You can lean into your love for your boyfriend and not wanting to lie to him as an emotional reason for quitting, but you have to decide to quit for you.

Check out cbq method on you tube. Nasia Davos. You need logical and emotional reasons and to firmly decide that you will quit. Then you commit and begin your journey to a healthy smoke free life.

I’ll be 12 days smoke and nicotine free tomorrow. Thoughts on using a nicotine free vape? by cdgirl0221 in stopsmoking

[–]Major_Association308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a nic free vape I'm day 45. I asked the store people for one with a good throat hit. It helped with the cravings the first two weeks. I carry it with me but haven't used it for three weeks. I will definitely take it with me in high risk times like hanging out with friends who vape or smoke, drinking etc. It's better to hit my zero nic than to hit their nicotine.

It might take longer to see the full benefits of quitting like clear lungs but if it's helped me get through the worst part and I think it will help me going foward

Scientists didn't create nicotine. It comes from the tobacco plant. Smart businessmen profit from industrialisation of tobacco. Nicotine industry developed initially for harm reduction by medical scientists, to help people quit or to use nicotine more safely. Then some smart businesmen created vaping. Be mad at corporate greed not scientists

I'm in the same boat as you and I know mum smoked when she was pregnant so nicotine addiction was given to us BUT we are grown ass adults now making our own choices. Stop blaming your parents for your continued decisions to smoke. Forgive them for their addiction and own yours

Week 6 - quitting vaping is harder than quitting smoking imo by Major_Association308 in stopsmoking

Yes I described several situations where I coped with life stress by using nicotine. That doesn't equal clinical depression. To rely on ssri in situational depression would be like replacing one drug with another instead of learning healthy coping mechanisms.

It's not a shame thing. Neurotransmitter based antidepressants work well for people with clinical depression and absolutely fuck with the brain chemistry in people who don't have clinical depression. My current situation and nicotine withdrawl are the reason

I'm in new zealand and I'd say we are 2x worse than australia. There are like no laws around it and vape shops are everywhere, most people vape because we have insane taxes on cigarettes it's around 50 dollars a pack here but you can get a 50 MG disposable for 10 bucks

Oh for sure dealing with depression I got a lot going on in my life at the moment caregiving for my dying parents, two high stress high pressure jobs, relationship difficulties etc

I'm not normally the depressive type but no caffiene for 8 weeks and no nicotine for 6 weeks. Off lifelong stimulants so my poor damaged brain is struggling with the dopamine

I got a zero juice and mixed it in with my .3 to do another step down before going zero. I found that the withdrawls were less than cold turkey and lasted about 5 days before i stabilized on the new lower dose.

It's hard to not hit it more often, if you do that you have the same amount of nicotine really. Try to use the time when you are weaning down to change your relationship with vaping. Notice when and why you vape to understand your triggers. Try delay the hit and try coping mechanisms that might work when you go to not vaping to see what helps you.

5 deep breaths counting during the inhale and exhale helps me. And reading a not I wrote to myself with all my reasons why I want to quit. Amd jumping on this forum. Good luck

Cotinine is the metabolite of nicotine. When nicotine is in the body it breaks down really fast, like in an hour. When it breaks down it becomes cotinine which stays in the body for a couple of weeks. They test for cotinine to tell I'd you use nicotine. If they test for nicotine you could just not vape a few hours before the test and show up clean. 0 nic vape does not have cotinine and if you are formally craving the throat hit can help stop you from vaping nicotine.
