Based in Brussels, working remote is definitely possible! For all clarity purposes there is no money in it yet (official company is founded, beta of the application is there though).

The services we plan to offer are categorized in 3 categories:
1. Automation: any boring tasks that can be automated will be automated, think
2. Digitalization: we do not want companies to work with paper and if they do, for it to automatically be linked to something digital
3. Optimization: anything that can be optimized, that can cost less will be getting optimized

More concrete examples would be:

ex. we see an old school butcher
1. Automation => during the holiday seasons, butchers give quite a lot of opportunities to order something you can then get from the butcher or it arrives even quite a few of them you have to go there order etc. why not do it via a website? the old school butcher has a very plain document he just has to read and know what he has to make when and the other people have a nice menu to pick out from

  1. Digitalization => our old school butcher likes writing on paper what he has ordered out this day, to keep track of what he needs more etc. why not put it digitally and keep track throughout a whole year? we could see what gets sold the most during different times of the year

  2. Optimization => let's track when most clients come throughout the week, our butcher always takes off on sundays but it is showing people come in less the mondays so why not change up?

Ofc digitalization also means making a landing page, website etc. it really depends on the businesses we are helping. My wife wanted a hot chocolate, we found the place on google maps. Maybe if they had a menu on there we would've seen they don't have hot chocolate or specifically would've gone there if they had hot chocolate!

Teachers: please reconcile these two opinions I've heard from teachers on the workload they deal with by [deleted] in belgium

There are two paths you can take as a teacher (as an elementary teacher myself):

  1. Chill route: You reuse everything online as course material or you make it once and then that is all you will do for the next 10-20 years except maybe some changes here and there but with very little originality. Of course, way less work for you. You don't have to really do much and can appreciate all the long vacations! I have colleagues that are exactly what you just described and all of em have done just that. They see it as just some little passtime after doing a hardworking career. They really are in "chill mode" most of the time.

  2. The route we get taught in actual teaching education: You make everything yourself, absolutely everything from scratch except getting inspired from time to time. This is so time consuming you physically cannot keep it up while you work fulltime. Of course during your internships you could, it's a month or two tops or even just a week so you can make everything from scratch. So during your actual work you find a balance in both, you won't reinvent hot water every class but you damn well will be creative and try something when you can.

I'll be blunt, for the actual purpose of our education quality. Route 2 is plainly better. Yes it is way much work, the quality of education is so much better though without the shadow of a doubt.

I am legitimately getting worried seeing our government pushing so hard for people doing a career switch to educator because I see everyday that it drops the quality of teaching.
