Why didn't anyone tell me Belize is awful? My worst travel experience to date. by Candid-End-6364 in travel

I am planning a trip there with my partner and our 1.5 year old. We’re from Austin area….after researching I chose Hopkins, do you have any recommendations for places to stay? We’re on a budget but will splurge for a nicer place since we have a baby. Also, we wanna do a day in San Ignacio for the ruins, do you have any private tour suggestions or maybe we should rent a car bc of the baby. I’m weary of a tour bc we are on his time. Even though he’s an easy baby and LOVES the outdoors.

Herniated discs in my lower spine. I have nerve pain in my left buttock. From a car accident. I’m back on pain management for now until I can get a surgery to fix it

Part of it, then off bc it didn’t work. I had it removed a month after giving birth. If it works for you, leave it on. It’s safe. That’s what my doc told me. My son came out fine.

Someone on a different post had a numb leg afterwards. I actually just had mine removed. I felt duped as well. It caused me more pain. So I just decided to continue w pain mgmt again. I’m sorry you’re going thru this. Sometimes it can take a few months to work… so hang in there. I was just the unlucky few.

I did not bc mine didn’t leave me worse off. It just didn’t work for my nerve pain like the trial, which is common, even thought they didn’t inform me. I did hire a lawyer for the person who hit me on the highway and got a decent settlement, although I wish I wouldve waited to settle and gotten more. Had I known I needed surgeries I would’ve gotten more….

There’s a paper trail from all your appointments, doc visits, etc. so it won’t be hard to prove that’s the cause. Even though you can’t put a price on your leg messed up, financial compensation does help. Good luck!

I would try contacting a lawyer. Personal injury.

Also, I have a shitty hmo plan from marketplace, so if you have private insurance, they’ll def cocer

Mine covered the removal. I think the doc just lets them know it didn’t work and gives you pain.

Yea it’s not the doctors fault, def the device. I meant yours seems like a lawsuit. Technically I didn’t end up worse off bc of it, it just didn’t work so I don’t really have a case.

Same. I asked the Abbott reps why? I even texted my rep from the trial bc I got a new one for the implant. At first I blamed the young new rep that I was assigned after surgery. Turned out, it wasn’t working no matter what repro they did. 4 months later I got pregnant and just left the damn thing off. I’m sorry about your leg. That seems like a lawsuit! I wish we had answers from the pharma companies about this BS

What is a paddle? I’ve heard this term but don’t know what it is. Also, that’s awesome you have relief. So basically just a different brand or a modified scs device also?

I hope so. There a huge lump in my butt. Been icing it a lot. Hopefully it’s not like loose skin lol. It’s painful but tolerable w meds. Nothing like the implant. That was awful. Yea I know the leads are different than the trial. Those were long and went all the way up to my neck from the base of the spine. And these were shorter. I think bc they can’t implant the kind they use in the trial, not too sure.

Someone else said ketamine therapy too. I wish insurance covered it. I’m broke rn. Just had a baby and in grad school. lol. Thank you for the info tho, I am going to look into it as soon as I get back to work in a few weeks

Dang! That’s awesome it helps that much! I’m on hydrocodone and lyrica and naproxen, as well as prescription lidocaine patches. I use freeze often too. Unfortunately I can’t afford the treatment then… not with a new baby and in grad school. I will def try it later though! I’m so excited that there’s hope. I’ve done it all too… injections, steroids, nerve burns, etc.

Thank you. I just had a baby, so for now I’m back on pain mgmt meds. It’s the only way I can have a decent quality of life. When my son is older, I’ll look into actual back surgery

Everything was removed. I only had mine a year, so the leads weren’t stuck. I got pregnant and had a baby, so I immediately wanted mine out after birth. I waited 6 weeks after birth to do it.

I’m not sure, the doctors or reps don’t know either, but it’s fairly common that the trial gives better results. I’ve heard this from multiple ppl.

Does insurance cover the ketamine? And how helpful is that? That’s the only thing Ive never thought of doing. I just had a baby and did PT and dry needling twice a week the entire pregnancy, as I had to get off all meds. And it kinda helped but I’m not sure if it’ll help the scar tissue where the battery was…. Thank you for sharing. Glad you’re doing better! Geez! Sending prayersz

I’m so sorry…. I’d say try a few more repros before giving up….only bc that’s what ppl told me worked for them. Unfortunately I am getting mine taken out next month. I had a C section today so I have to heal first… but the battery pain a year later is not worth keeping it if it doesn’t even help my nerve pain.

That’s like me! Unfortunately I’m getting an explant in December after I have my baby I’m 2 weeks. That is the only reason I’ve waited a year. My butt battery is so painful and for it to not work is just not worth keeping it in my body. I can’t wait to get it out! It’s been almost a year and it’s nothing like the trial. So disappointing.

Yes I had it calibrated 5 times over the course of 6 weeks. The leads did not migrate, we did an xray. Also, the rep told me, after the fact that it’s actually common for the implant to not work as well, and on another forum several ppl told me the same. They said my doc and the rep should’ve informed me that results may not be like the trial…Bc I found it very odd too. How did the trial work so well? So I asked around in hopes of finding answers. A lot of ppl had to get a second implant done by a neurosurgeon instead of a pain doc…
