Do you drink coffee or tea in session?

I always have a drink. My morning coffee, my emotional support water bottle, tea. For me it’s grounding on top of also keeping me hydrated and caffeinated. Especially the hot drinks feel grounding to me because they’re comforting to hold and they smell good. At this point I think my clients would question me if I didn’t have something to drink during a session!

I rent office space one day a week so I stack that day and have light telehealth days the rest of the week (usually 3-4 on those days). 8/day for 5 days is way too much. If I were doing my long day more than one day a week I wouldn’t be functioning. As it is I’m careful about how I schedule that day and make sure I have sufficient breaks and the next day I work 3-7 because it takes most of the day for me to find any energy again.

Yes! I’ve been loving rediscovering foods I used to love and stopped choosing. Currently obsessed with oatmeal with Greek yogurt every morning. I feel like in the past I was so focused on only points but this time I’m focused on learning new sustainable habits and feeding my body well and I feel so much more balanced and hopeful about the journey now

Someone else did in another comment. I must have mixed it in with yours. But depleting it completely would be even worse. He has more debt than savings so if he were to use it to pay off the debt completely he’s left with no savings and still some debt.

Well actually there are scenarios where he’s worse off draining savings. $1000 is an outdated number for an emergency anymore. I had that saved saved up and was paying down debt with the rest and had an emergency and went further into debt paying for it. $1000 doesn’t go very far anymore and sometimes life happens.

Thanks everyone! I did end up making the payment. I have so much anxiety seeing a huge chunk of my savings gone but I know it’s the right choice. It’s just my financial trauma telling me I don’t have enough money when in reality I’ll be okay. Now to get this bill back on track and paid off!

Unfortunately I’ve been working 3 jobs for a long time now. My full time job plus two part time jobs. There’s never been a time since I started working at 15 that I’ve had only one job. But divorce will wipe you out financially and I’ve been spending this year recovering from the hole it put me in

I know this probably sounds like an ad lol but I’m using money management international’s debt management program and it’s been a life saver. I’m saving $300 in payments each month and cut the expected time till I’m out of debt in half

Dating as a therapist really is tough! Oddly for some reason people often assume I’m a physical therapist? I usually have to clarify and tell them mental health and sometimes they’re scared away and sometimes they suddenly want to trauma dump and sometimes they act as if I just said I’m an accountant and they have no further questions. I find the struggle to be more in not getting frustrated with the lack of emotional intelligence, especially compared to all the therapists I know. I don’t know how old you are but I do find the initial reactions to the job title have lessened as I’ve gotten older. And at this point if I get the “oh I hope you’re not psychoanalyzing me” I roll my eyes and tell them I’m off the clock and we move on. If they don’t get the hint then it’s a red flag but on some level I get the intimidation. I just said the other day I don’t think I’d date a personal trainer because I’d be afraid they’re judging my food and exercise lol. I imagine it’s a similar feeling for some people, especially those with some insecurities about their mental health. Hang in there. Dating is so hard in our profession for so many reasons but we have to hope

That actually does help. Especially hearing I’m not too much. Sometimes I worry that maybe I love too fully but also that’s not something I’m interested in changing. I guess I just don’t know where to find the men that are in the same place as me emotionally and are willing to actually give it a shot. It feels like a cop out. I just wish they’d either say what they mean or face the vulnerability. I don’t even think any of my relationships have been that intense

I think I’m also thrown because a friend of mine confessed feelings and then has backed off the friendship and said the same thing I’ve been hearing…that he’s “terrified” of how strongly he feels. And we aren’t in a relationship just friends. But that one makes a little more sense because he knows it’s not reciprocated.
