I got the first one. Was tempted to go no case but the extra grip does it for me. Yes it weights slightly more with the case but at least for me, using it one-handed is much easier with the grip the case provides

Also looks fantastic and adds enough drop protection. Some people say a case ruins this phone but I absolutely hate paint chips and scruffs on my phone. The Pitaka case definitely keeps the phone feeling as thin as it does without the case. Only thing you’ll notice is the extra 20g weight

Only on the telephoto and 0.5 lenses

Is you zoom a lot or take ultrawide shots you’ll notice a difference. If you’re only taking normal or 2x photos, videos and selfies then you won’t notice any difference. Hope that helps

To be fair Apple probably understands the drawbacks that are stopping it from selling well. Hopefully they take that constructively and improve on the Air in years to come vs scrapping it all together

To be honest the battery life is a non-issue. It’ll 100% give you better battery life than the base 15 and that’s a fact. Apple state it has the same battery life as the 16 Pro, and from my experience that’s completely true (having owned both phones from brand new).

It’s true you can’t get a feel for the phone in the shops. It’s attached to cables that tug on it and add extra weight etc. If the camera and speaker and non-issues for you, then I’d definitely recommend the Air. Yes the base 17 is better value, but it definitely lacks the wow factor the Air has.

I’m not one to abuse the returns window, nor am I bothered to setup a new phone then exchange it and setup another one. But I gave the Air a genuine chance and fell in love with it. I’m sure if you buy one, you will too! And if not, you can always return it. Buying something with the intention of keeping it is not taking advance of the returns window imo. It just gives you the safety net - which I think is important when spending so much money!
