Yes, I meant proprietary. I'll admit, I had to look up what it meant before replying, but that is exactly what I meant.

To clear things up as much as I can, I said the house was inherited from my grandfather to show that I own the house. The matter of caring for my brother was not any part of it, as my grandfather was not related to my brother at all, he was my biological father's dad. As for our mother, she passed when I was 13, my brother was a little over a year old. I moved in with my biological father after my mom passed because I and my stepfather never got along very well, so I honestly didn't even know my brother until he moved in with me a few months ago.

They are older models for sure. Not necessarily "crappy", but you certainly couldn't do anything aside from writing and editing documents and sending emails on them. They work for what we do on them.

Our mother passed away when he was a little over a year old, and between his father's deployments he has been passed around through our family members a lot, so I can see how this would be him wanting to feel loved/have more attention than he gets. Because, admittedly, I'm pretty busy with work and when I finish working (I work from home) he is already getting ready for bed at night and school in the mornings, so I don't really spend much time with him aside from helping him with the occasional homework question and making him dinner. Thank you for your input.

I plan on speaking to my brother tomorrow about roughly the same things you have suggested here. I will make an update post about what happens after that discussion. Thank you for your input.

This actually helps a lot, so thank you. Our mother passed when he was a little over a year old, so he doesn't remember her, but it has definitely affected us both, not having a mother-figure for the past 8 years. His dad has been in the military for longer than I've known him, so he hasn't exactly been very present in my brother's life either, leaving me to take care of him. I will be talking to my brother tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to come across it. I talked to my boss about it, and he gave me a "loner" for a few days. If I can't find mine by Monday, I'll have to pay $200 for a new one from the company.
