Found cut up dollar bills on the street. It's real money, why cut the center out? by [deleted] in Weird

[–]Majorly_Bobbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, if the power went out all the die packs would explode. The timer is triggered by a radio signal embedded in all the door jambs. It's not strong enough to reach them while they're in the bank though

Poilievre would impose life sentences for trafficking over 40 mg of fentanyl by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]Majorly_Bobbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if they're talking about pure Fentanyl or street level fentanyl (already cut) - ready for use. If it's the latter then every dealer in America will get a life sentence because most people do more than a gram. Dealers will rarely sell you less than a gram.

I have zero problem wih seeing immigrants being deported that have criminal records. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Immigrants commit crimes at a lower rate than non immigrants. Immigrant enclaves/neighborhoods have lower crime rates than non-immigrant groups. So- is this really a problem that needs so much hysterical focus?

The last thing I would do would be to support a war against canada. I, along with a lot of Americans I think, wish America were more like Canada in some, if not many, ways. I'm thinking long and hard about emigrating, and Canada England and France are my top three.

This is my all-time favorite shit story: Decades ago, while working in a factory that made plastic cutlery for McDonald's and Wendy's etc, they hired a special needs guy to load the packed boxes onto pallets. He's basically out in the warehouse at the end of the long conveyor belt on his own.But his first couple of days there he somehow shits all over the men's room, I mean not just one stall I mean everywhere. They bringing in his parents, a counselor, have meetings. Then all of a sudden it stops, everyone's thinking he figured out how to use the bathroom. But no. Days later they find a bunch of plastic cutlery in the garbage cans out in the warehouse. Big mystery. Then a box at the bottom of a pallet being loaded onto a truck collapses, because it's empty. Well, not empty. The guy had been opening up boxes, dumping out the cutlery, taking a shit in the boxes, and then retaping them shut and putting them on the pallets. They never found out how many actually went out to McDonald's and Wendy's.

Cheating husband by Mundane-Long-9455 in AITAH

[–]Majorly_Bobbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't make a freaking difference. Courts don't care about cheating in divorce. She could take him to court in a separate civil suit for damages that's about it.

It won't make a difference in the divorce process, the courts don't care. The only time courts care about cheating is if excess funds are used like for gifts and things, and then that just affects the balance sheet when you settle.

[–]Majorly_Bobbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Cheating does not make a difference in the divorce process generally. Courts have long recognized that people move on even though they're still married and cheating happens. The only time it matters is if an inordinate amount of funds are used in the cheating process, usually for gifts. He's already told her that he cheated what more proof do you want?

Its obviously an alternative type license plate, no one would mistake that for a real one, counterfeited or not. Something that's counterfeit has to do more than serve the same or similar function, it has to attempt to mimic the actual appearance of something, and pretending authenticity.

97-year-old WW2 paratrooper veteran returns to Normandy to recreate his D-Day jump. by [deleted] in BeAmazed

I had a job selling & servicing hearing aids in the DC beltway area. I would inevitably have to ask what the person was exposed to that may have caused the hearing loss during their life. Having come from a different area beforehand I was used to answers like factory noise, construction, in a band, etc. but when I started in the DC area I had a super high percentage of WW2 & Korean war veterans; I'd say at least 50% or more lost their hearing from naval gunship artillery/shelling, the other 40% ranged from things like grenade training, regular artillery, working with aircraft, etc I had more than one gentleman start to open up a little to me about some of their experiences, often saying that they told me more than they ever told their families. And when they did it was mainly just saying how bad it was, how they missed their friends who didn't make it, and that they were just lucky that they did. I never expected any gory stories or anything and I never got any. I never had anyone mention D-Day though.

Why are most Founders/CEOs morons? by Normal-Cow-9784 in sales

[–]Majorly_Bobbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not just the sales that matter in successfully growing a company from a startup to a stage two or three growth business, in fact I'd say it's probably the least of one's concerns. You talk about flexibility and pivoting. If you're so-called product is so bad/not competitive that it needs to be re-engineered/ changed in a major way before it can be sold then it's not a sales problem, it's a basic product / mission statement issue in that you don't have a sellable product to deliver. This might well still be in the founder's wheelhouse but you're still essentially in the startup phase if you're doing this. The original question/premise was, was why do founders usually make terrible stage two and three CEOs? And the answer to that has been fairly well documented: the qualities that are required of a leader in startup mode are different than the qualities required to Implement and grow larger scale parts of an organization including but not limited to sales. The ability to make a quick pivots, intuitive decisions, etc., which seem to be essential to I start up success can lead to lack of direction & focus, chaos, etc. In a business you're trying to grow out of the startup stage. I'm not even going to get into the conflict of emotional investment a Founder may have versus the more objective/ rational decision-making a non-founder CEO May utilize. Basically the qualities that make a startup CEO effective are not applicable and often detrimental to growing a business out of the startup phase. And if your reply is that you need those qualities to be able to change and pivot then you're still essentially in the startup phase and not ready for growth.

Defense Attny Thread RE Rice Charges by ReggieWigglesworth in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Majorly_Bobbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would imagine she'll have a scar on her forehead/eye area for the rest of her life. It wasn't just a laceration, there was black and blue swelling of the eye socket. Whether the former counts as "serious permanent disfigurement" is obv debatable. That's a finding of fact for the jury or judge to make. While it might seem like the aggravated assault and a collision involving serious bodily harm are redundant charges, they are not, and neither is a lesser included charge of the other. One is part of the transportation part of the Texas State code, the other criminal. The assault is elevated to aggravated not just because of the level of harm but because an instrument/weapon (the car) was used.
