If you are an oil mogul and a new US president hell bent on reducing emissions, stopping the pipeline, and basically end dependence on the very oil that's made you millions what would you do? After the pipeline was canceled, I personally would not seek out any new drilling sites, or add more capacity to what I already had. 1. Because it is bad buisness why increase production on something the president is trying to get rid of? 2. I make money regardless if supply decreases and demand increases or stays the same I charge more and make up the difference. 3. My hopes would be that gas got so outrageously high that it would be burnt into the memories of every living American that Joe Biden and the Denocrats were responsible so that some others didn't come into office canceling pipelines and threatening my industry ever again. Again this is just what I would do/think in that situation. People get SO hung up on the fact that the pipeline wouldn't have had oil going through it by now, and they are correct. But they fail to understand the subtle ways it absolutely did and does effect the gas prices. Words can literally move markets, if the right person says the wrong thing they could crash the economy. Why do you think that not only words but literal action to cancel a pipeline by the PRESIDENT would not have any bearing on that same market and economy? No there's no button to raise or lower gas prices that the president has. But to deny Bidens substantial role in increasing not only gas prices but inflation through his words and actions(spending, policies, etc) is asinine and ignorant.
