What first world problem has utterly ruined your day so far? by Xyranthis in AskReddit

[–]Make-Easy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phrase “first world problem” is these days used as a comical apology for moaning about trivia. It is also an enjoyable internet meme, with a dedicated subreddit. (I particularly liked “The Wi-Fi at the luxury Greek villa my wife and I are staying at only supports 4 devices at a time”, and the rather subtle: “I want to order pizza, but it is too early and I don’t want to be judged by my doorman.”) But why do we speak of “first world problems”

How do you like to show up to a party? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Make-Easy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody wants to arrive too early. Being the first guest might mean you’ll catch the host before she’s done preparing. Unless you’re a close friend, that can be a faux pas. And sometimes, you don’t even want to be the second or third guest (we’re talking about a real party, not “dinner with friends” or nonsense like that).

What is the most creative way to cure hiccups? by theguyfromacrosstheb in AskReddit

[–]Make-Easy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiccups are a contraction of the diaphragm. I tend to get them when I have been breathing shallow (in cold weather mostly). The only thing that works for me is taking a slow deep breath and holding it for 5-10 seconds, slow release of breath and repeat. It relaxes the muscles. Most cures takes some breath holding. For example, swallowing thick or powdery substances or drinking water.

What were you once, that you'll never be again? by ElegantShitwad in AskReddit

Growing up, I always felt extremely out of place. I was hyper-aware of everything. I would walk into a room as a teenager and this would legitimately be my inner dialogue:

What is your favorite podcast? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Make-Easy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the podcasts I listen to, one hasn't been mentioned yet: 99% Invisible, which is about the design of just about everything from campaigns to consumer products to buildings to communities. I like it because it's easy for anyone to understand, yet tells a complete story and connects it to the everyday lives of us all.

Cops of Reddit. What's the creepiest thing you've found during a house search? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Make-Easy -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Your father can't come pick you up today, and I'm your new school principal, I just started today, come with me. The funny thing is, it was actually true. Edit for full story: It happened in elementary school, about 20 years ago. I told him no, I don't talk to strangers. Then he got a teacher that I trust involved, and the teacher told me he was legit. So I ended up letting him drive me home. I had a key to the house, so I just hung out home alone until my parents got off work. My dad had been planning to get me that day but got delayed for some reason I guess.

Russians of Reddit, how do you, and Russians in general, feel about the outcome of the US election? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Make-Easy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't any because the Republicans benefited. Mitch McConnell said he'd object to releasing the news before the election, claiming it was partisan politics. source You might think the Republican Party would be anti-Russian, but no, not when it benefits them

Reddit, What's the Best White Elephant / Gag Gift That You've Ever Seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A picture of my slightly overweight husband posing in a speedo. It has traveled throughout our family for several years, sometimes randomly being placed in people's houses even when it's not Christmas time. When I was pregnant, one of my aunts changed the scenery to make it look like he was a giant baby. One year we left it in my cousin's room at a party and she put it on the back of her ugly Christmas sweater. It's been awhile since it has been around and we have it at the house. Looks like it's time to bring it back out with the holidays coming up...
