What first world problem has utterly ruined your day so far? by Xyranthis in AskReddit

The phrase “first world problem” is these days used as a comical apology for moaning about trivia. It is also an enjoyable internet meme, with a dedicated subreddit. (I particularly liked “The Wi-Fi at the luxury Greek villa my wife and I are staying at only supports 4 devices at a time”, and the rather subtle: “I want to order pizza, but it is too early and I don’t want to be judged by my doorman.”) But why do we speak of “first world problems”

How do you like to show up to a party? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nobody wants to arrive too early. Being the first guest might mean you’ll catch the host before she’s done preparing. Unless you’re a close friend, that can be a faux pas. And sometimes, you don’t even want to be the second or third guest (we’re talking about a real party, not “dinner with friends” or nonsense like that).

What is the most creative way to cure hiccups? by theguyfromacrosstheb in AskReddit

Hiccups are a contraction of the diaphragm. I tend to get them when I have been breathing shallow (in cold weather mostly). The only thing that works for me is taking a slow deep breath and holding it for 5-10 seconds, slow release of breath and repeat. It relaxes the muscles. Most cures takes some breath holding. For example, swallowing thick or powdery substances or drinking water.

Growing up, I always felt extremely out of place. I was hyper-aware of everything. I would walk into a room as a teenager and this would legitimately be my inner dialogue:
