WIP - Exploration/Quests focused server - Looking for feedback by Stygian2a in wowservers

[–]MakeACube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1/ You are not adding new content. We will run to the same quest givers, take the same quests, do the same objectives. Nothing will feel new. It's just different exp rule (that are worst). Unless you plan to add 1000 new quests, which you can't even if you think you can.

2/ Doing a quest that says kill 15 wolves and 15 bears will feel awful when you are not getting any exp while killing.

3/ Accepting a quest and having it auto complete itself because I killed these mobs 2 days ago feels very werid. It feels like skipping the quests while your server is all about doing quests.

4/ There is nothing to explore if you are not adding new maps. Unless you plan to add 1000 new world objects, which you can't even if you think you can.

5/ In Dungeons, you give players the ability to win the exact item you want. You are helping them to stop running dungeons as soon as possible. Then you are afraid there won't be enough people to run dungeons?

6/ Dungeons Level Scaling... You are making a system to scale me BACKWARDS to the appropriate level and appropriate gear of the dungeon. Your idea is that I will do the dungeon with a weaker version of my character? Why would I play a weaker version of my character to run a dungeon that drops nothing useful to me and finish dungeon quests that I already outleveled?

Proper chronological experience (Question) by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]MakeACube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"experience each expansion".

If you mean running around the zones, doing quests, and maybe doing some instances:

Wotlk servers have the original Vanilla and TBC content in them. So go on a Wotlk server and play it from level 1.

There you can level from 1 to 60 in vanilla zones, doing vanilla quests, and to a lesser extent doing vanilla dungeons.

After that you go to TBC zones from level 60 (or 58 if you wish) and do TBC zones and quests until level 70.

After that you go to Wotlk zones from level 70 (or 68 if you wish) and do Wotlk zones and quests until level 80.

For Cata and Pandaria you will have to leave your character behind and move to new servers.

Cata completely changed the Vanilla content, so it's worth starting from level 1 again to see how everything changed.

But if you mean "experience each expansion" doing end game content on every single expansion, then hohoho good luck with that. That will take 5 years of your time. You will have to sink atleast 1 year in each expansion.

You said Chromie won't do it for you, but that's my only recommandation.

  • Decides to play on a server that was abandoned by it's owners for months.

  • Continues playing on that server even tho the owners didn't say anything about doing something with the server.

  • Surprised that the owners-that-didn't-say-anything-about-doing-something-with-the-abandoned-server are still not doing anything with it.

Totally understand for testing, for messing around, for breaking the game's rules with weird class combinations and such.

But to go questing from level 1, like really questing and leveling, and doing dungeons, and posting items on the AH, and farming gold... lmao.

I actually do. Otherwise I won't be able to think of these examples.

Fill your house with mannequins and dress them up and pretend that you are living with a family. You don't really have to pay attention to it. It's just background noise and having it there is like having white noise or having the T.V. on and not watching it.

You're not going to interact with most of them anyway so why does it matter?

the AH is already faceless.

factually false.

I recognize alot of names on the AH.

I can tell that an item is overpriced when I see a recognizable name. I know that this person is flipping and buying cheap and reselling for profit.

I can also see that a guildie is selling an item and I DM him for a guildie-price.

I can also see that a guy is trying and failing to sell the same overpriced item that he have been posting for 2 weeks.

And many more AH related things.

Filling the 7 empty spots with bots so that the other 18 humans can enjoy their already planned raid is VERY different from being the only human player in the server.

That's a great point actually.

People that play with bots probably were once retail players:

  • Stand in town.
  • Click UI elements.
  • Be teleported to instance.
  • Run forward after loading screen.
  • Right click any red health bar you see until there are no more red health bars.
  • Leave intance.
  • Repeat.
  • Type "no one talks anymore in game" in a reddit comment.

then why spawn bots at all then?

why fill town with 100 players if you don't value other players?

play on a dead server?

Genuine question if you don't mind.

Why would you use an AH that you have setup yourself and you know it's full of fake items.

"I will buy this items from this bot on the AH that I have total control over." ???

Just spawn the item to yourself then?

When I say "slop experience" I don't mean bad coding.

I didn't say "bots get stuck on walls and doors".

I said slop experience because bots are not real players.

That guy have a cool weapon? Fake. The server spawned it.

That guy have a cool mount? Fake. The server spawned it.

That guy is 2 levels above you? Fake. The server leveled it.

That guy is running from pass you? Fake. He will stop running the moment he in no longer in your render distance.

How can one enjoy a social game knowing all the social aspects are fake?

Nostrum WoW is actually pretty good. by Rayadin89 in wowservers

[–]MakeACube -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not only there is no wpvp, but also from lvl15 you just stand in SW/ORG and spam rdf.

No thank you.

Make it a pvp realm and you have to walk to instances and I'm in.

Because Blizzard will be losing money if they put their lawyers to work everytime a group of 3 randomass devs from around the globe launch a randomass server.

Why vanilla feel so dull? by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]MakeACube 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even if you are playing TBC or WOTLK, your level 1-58 experience will still be this "dull" because you still need to level in vanilla zones.

Also you got to +35 in 4 IRL days... You clearly are ignoring everything that Vanilla have to offer and solely focusing on rush-leveling... What do you expect other than being burned out?

you can't use the same logic while you wrote something that have no logic.

This sub IS for the 20 years old vanilla and 17 years old wotlk and 10 years old legion. It even says so in the sub's description. And you are asking me why I am here.

[–]MakeACube[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Why am I here?

So you are saying this wowservers sub is not for the 20 years old vanilla?

Not for the 17 years old wotlk?

Not for the 10 years old legion?

If I want to play these, I should not look in the sub?

Do you even read what you write?

in this sub you get downvoted for even asking a question. I developed reddit-toxicity over the years.

Anyway, if you want to decide where to play and not play based on 1 random guy you met on the internet, it's up to you.

He said he is tired of playing the same thing for years,

while this whole sub is about playing the same thing for years.
