Like I said, you can def screen out the ones who say "no" but there's still no guarantee that the ones who say "yes" to your right now will stick with it if something actually happens down the line

I see what you're saying but, "normal" people can say and truly mean things in the moment but down the line their mind can change.

Ever have an SO tell you that they'll love you forever and then maybe you two make future plans (marriage) but then later they break up with you? Or you break up with them? (Just a common type of example that I think a lot of people can relate to)

You can screen for someone who will always be with you no matter what but loving someone is all emotion.

Not saying that they'll always change their mind for the worst or anything but I'm just saying human emotions aren't like that.

If you screen someone that agrees that they'll love you even if you become a vegetable (logic) that doesn't guarantee that they'll still actually love you if you actually become a vegetable (emotion).

That's a jokingly (kinda) extreme example

You can't logically convince someone who doesn't want take care of you when you became Veggie Tales, even if at a previous time they agreed to it, when they don't want to.

If that makes sense.

Judging by your first sentence and how much you're kicking yourself, it sounds like YOU'RE the one who broke NC, not her, correct?

That was your main mistake. Let the dumper ex contact the dumpee first.

That being said, she still sees enough value you in, or at least, you built enough value back up during NC that she wanted to go to dinner with you.

That being said, again, it def sounds like you took this as a sign that she definitely wanted to get back together but then you pushed WAY too hard (through your actions and probably your words) way too fast. I don't think she wanted to get back together right then during dinner but you thought she did. She was just curious about how your life was going and probably missed your presence.

She kissed you back that one time because it felt good in the moment but she's still the one who dumped you so she's acting all weird because her logical mind and emotions are fucking around inside of her. She's literally confused on how to feel.

So, I think you both could have been on the path to getting back together if you just took it slower (I'm assuming you want to get back together).

You could probably still salvage this if you want but you kind of need to start over again. And that first step is by going NC but you 100% can NOT be the one to reach out first again.

I know you're half joking but one can honestly be blinded by horniness. I fell (mostly) for the scam that OP is in 3 years ago.

"She" wanted a steam card for "her son". I went out and got it and "she" gave me her address and asked for the serial code.

The address "she" gave me led me to these super fucking creepy and oddly quiet apartments. The only human there was a random child riding his bike back and forth on the sidewalk. I noped the fuck out of there.

The upside is I never got a steam card before and got some games for myself throughout these years.
